So I know there are a lot of fans out there but that doesn't change the fact that you won't get your tonearm. I've emailed Alfred numerous times and given an ample wait time past the expected time (I ordered Nov 2020). I've gotten replies that it'll be sent out etc. None of that is true. At this point there is no expectation I'll ever see the tonearm I paid for... I even made the mistake of not buying it through eBay to save him some $, but now I have no recourse.

Fair warning, any postings on eBay for I would consider a bluff. You will receive nothing. Alfred's health is so-so, and he should not be attempting to sell anything if he can't deliver at all, ever. I wish him health but not this scam of letting people pay for nothing.

In no way do I wish to slander him, I'm just saying at this point it's irresponsible with confused expectations of completion. Obviously there's a lot of VERY happy people out there, that did get tonearms made very nicely and within a time frame promised. But the day to become one of those people seems to have passed. This is nothing more than to help you save time and money if you're looking.

Alfred has contacted me. I will keep this thread up to date. The purpose here wasn't to get him to reach out to me, it was that contact was not doing anything. If he indeed does send me a tonearm I will not hesitate to make it known.

Never heard of him or his tonearm. What makes you want one?
They work with medium to low compliance carts. They look great. They have a good reputation for vintage builds. Some compare them very favorably with some idolized tonearms, if you aren’t using a cart that requires a light arm. They seemed like an really nice solution for a vintage build I am doing that is for fun, not extreme.

Alfred Bokrand are mostly rebuild Ortofons, or at least built on the Ortofon bearing and magnetic skating assy
I owned one and the quality was way beyond what I paid for.Banana shaped with EMT bayonet arm contact
He even met me at the Malaga Airport to deliver in person, since I was down there anyway.
His mail responstime was so-so, but I have all reason his intention was to deliver as promised, which is the experience of many other fellow Norwegians as well
Hope you´ll get your arm....
Best

good day

I must take up the cudgels for Alfred Bokrand.

I bought a 12" ortofon arm through an auction portal. after receiving the tonearm, I was disappointed and visibly astonished at the amateurish way it was made. after a short correspondence with the seller, I emailed Mr. Bockrand and told him about my disappointment. he asked for photos, which I then sent him.
Shortly afterwards, he replied by asking me to send him this tonearm to Spain. he would then send me a new one free of charge. this tonearm was a prototype and did not meet his standard, for which he apologised.

I had to wait about three months for the new tonearm, because he was setting up his workshop in a new place. a few times I was unsure whether the promised tonearm would ever reach me.

Mr. Alfred Bockrand kept his word! See the pictures. For me, he is a man of honour, which have become rare today.

i ordered an as309 with all the silver wiring for about $1000 back in april, still haven’t recieved mine yet.

i trust i will eventually recieve it but i haven’t been ablw to listen to any records for over a year.

very sparse communication as well.

seeing that you guys are recieving yours brings me some hope that i’ll get mine soon, but this has been a major stress for me.

Hello Richard,

It's the absolute horror for me. Why do I always forget you. I had to move into a new house and rebuild the workshop. It all took 2 months. You are one of 3 customers that I have forgotten again and again. I have to everyone Day taking pills against my migraine attacks, am 72 years old and no longer so fit. I will immediately book the shipment for your tonearm today and then you can be sure that the shipment will also take place. I'll give you the carrier's booking confirmation afterwards

Please excuse that your order is so late. I am not doing this on purpose. I live alone and have no help to organize and answer my emails.

Best regards

Alfred

Bokrand is my tonearm of choice for spus. In my experience it compares favorably to schick, groovemaster, jelco 750l, sme 3012 and 3012r.

I have had my two bokrands for 6-8 years.

Sad to hear about these recent delivery problems. Hope it’ll get sorted.

I did not receive a tracking number. Still waiting for the arm. Will report.
Hello Richard,
Package is booked with DHL and paid for. Now you can be sure that we will send your arm.I sent you the confirmation of the carrier by email

Sorry that it got so late. I had to move into a new house and the workshop had to be rebuilt first. I live alone and am 72 years and constantly slowed down by migraine, that's why things have gone haywire here in the last few months. i don't do it on purpose.

Folsom…it is good that a long, long time ago Jeremy was chosen for you.

…Richard Hood could have been too much to bare…

all fun aside, it is nice to read that all is sorted out and your highly anticipated tonearm is now on the way to you!

brilliant, Alfred.
