Experience with Torus All-in-One 12KVA Power Conditioner "Chemistry" w/ MSB Components

Thank you, mtemur. As you likely inferred, the Torus AIO is not a standard in rack power conditioner, it is a massive breaker panel (like an Equitech) that has 24 isolated breakers and a large 12KVA transformer. I’ve included its product description below. The three dedicated circuits that I run...

Experience with Torus All-in-One 12KVA Power Conditioner "Chemistry" w/ MSB Components

Hi all, Was interested in hearing forum members experience utilizing this Torus Power Conditioner, and in particular with MSB components. For the last three years, it has served as the electrical/power source for my dedicated listening system. From it I run three dedicated / isolated 20 amp...

Aurender N30 - To stay competitive in 2021

does anyone have the release notes to the latest Aurender N30SA firmware update? Would be interesting to know what changed and if real sonic improvements were made (vs ones that we think we hear :) )

Go to the Conductor settings and select software update in the left hand margin. Then select check for latest version of software on that page. Simple process.

Wadax Reference Dac and Server arrive

Fair enough, Steve. I have no dog in the hunt here. I’m just an enthusiast and not involved in the trade. Just wish every time I opened my checkbook to acquire a new piece of audiophile gear, it wasn’t a multiple of $10,000.

Wadax Reference Dac and Server arrive

Who’s debasing Wadax? I was making the salient point that the differential in cost between owning an MSB Select and Wadax for many is not $40K unless one already owns a caliber of preamp (and requisite cables, cords, isolation etc) that will not impede the performance of the Wadax. I’m certainly...

Wadax Reference Dac and Server arrive

It’s certainly a fair question. The point I was endeavoring to make was that many MSB Select owners are using the preamp module provided with the MSB Select in lieu of a separate reference preamplifier. Many will say that to best the stock preamp module, one needs to spend upwards of $50-$60K...

Wadax Reference Dac and Server arrive

Thanks Mike. That’s understandable and I apologize if I missed your prior attempts to explain the cost differential. With all due respect to everyone’s opinions on this thread, it feels like we’re comparing apples to oranges here with the Wadax stack + a preamp + additional cables and isolation...

Wadax Reference Dac and Server arrive

Hi Mike, Have really been enjoying your Wadax updates…I continue to believe that competition is great for our hobby, and even though some of us who no longer own the absolute SOTA or can’t afford it might be disappointed in the near term, in the long run we’ll all be better off for it as...

Wadax Reference Dac and Server arrive

Congratulations Mike. The Wadax sounds like a hell of a pre-retirement and Xmas present! Thanks for sharing your detailed initial impressions and we look forward to hearing more in the future. Speaking for myself, I’m disappointed to hear that the Select sounds a notch below the Wadax, but...

    Goebel Cables

Good luck with your evaluation. As you know, there’s never one right or wrong answer and it often comes down to personal taste and synergy with the rest of your system. As I own Gobel speakers, I have that synergy. Please keep us posted on how Gobel stacks up after they’ve been full broken in!

Aurender N30 - To stay competitive in 2021

Thanks. I’ve heard that the Aurender AES output is excellent. With the MSB Select and ProUSB/ISL module the USB interface is excellent b/c it is clocked by MSB’s internal Femto 33 clock.

Aurender N30 - To stay competitive in 2021

Thanks! I’m using an Uptone 1.2 LPS with my EtherRegen and an inexpensive outboard clock the manufacturer recommended. Are you using an outboard clock and have you compared the SQ of using CAT8 vs Fiber between your home router/switch and your EtherRegen?

Aurender N30 - To stay competitive in 2021

JCharvet, Please keep us posted on the impact of the custom umbilical cord post break in. In the meantime, would you mind sharing what hardware you’ve implemented along your signal path between your ISP/Router > N30 > DAC? Not sure if you’re using an audiophile switch and/or a USB reclocker...

Aurender N30 - To stay competitive in 2021

I’ve only had my N30SA up and running for a few hours (though it’s been powered on for the last 2-3 days while I transferred music to its SSD and waited to receive my MSB ProUSB/ISL modules). I’m blown away. It crushes my prior config where Roon was running on my QNAP server and using MSB’s...
