“All of which leaves me pondering the two-way Clarysis Studio. Smaller, lighter, capable of active operation; maybe, just maybe…” Roy Gregory
So do I— active operation. Florian, we’ll be talking about this at AXPONA.
Ron, how wide apart are the speakers? And distance to seating? I know pics can be deceiving.
Just an fyi, when positioning mine, I spent time getting the bass right first ( played pink noise and used analyzer app to do crude placement) then refined from there. Set up Studios and Minuets this...
I know I was never able to get the quantity and quality of the bass out of my Apogee Scintillas. The Sudios go lower, have more impact(you can feel the bass) and even in the upper 20s, lower 30 hz range you can really differentiate the notes and tone—at least for me in my setup.
Yes, no doubt VAC is great with these speakers(I like the way VAC is voiced), but I’m surprised how musical the Hegel monos are. And I’m coming from Manley mono tube amps.
As I mentioned earlier, I owned the Scintilla’s and was lucky enough to have spent time with almost every model except the Grands. One of the dealers was 5 blocks from my house!
Clarisys speakers (Minuets) will be in one of the Holm Audio rooms and in the Hegel room. Florian is bringing the Auditorium with the revised midrange and tweeter ribbons. I don’t know what room yet.
