Hi Ricco, I think your experience is more or less in line with my ownership of the merason. I don't find it to be a wet blanket on the sound but i do find it to be full and analog. I was at Southwest Audiofest over the weekend and it confirmed to me that I'm on the right path. There were only a few there that i would like to live with "more" than what i am currently sporting. The avantgarde Duo GT's were outstanding imo. I really enjoyed YG acoustics demos but not so...- Bretson

Further Update MSB with Watt and Dynaudio Confidence 30 is near perfection. I have in home: TAD CR1 Mkii Dynaudio Confidence 30 Audiovector R3 Arrete Paradigm Persona 5f Best combo is with MSB, WATT and DYN Confidence 30. CR1 is right there as well but seems to be less efficient than DYN...- Bretson

The Vitus with Merason was best at low level. The Vitus with MSB did not sound good. MSB with Burmester, Gryphon and Audionet Watt were a close second for low level. The Watt is fantastic. I had narrowed down my ideals in amplifiers and the Audionet delivers. I tend to prefer amps with wide bandwidth, DC coupling, high damping factor, a huge power supply and a sophisticated volume control. This has lead me to Gryphon, Burmester, Vitus and now Audionet...- Bretson

Who knows indeed. I have absolutely zero complaints about the A5's There are a lot of positive qualities about the 509x. Its build and aesthetic is top notch. I have also owned a 590axii and 590aii. I prefer both of the 590's to the 509. I tended to prefer the sound with the loudness... -

I switched between a burmester 051 run as an integrated to running a Burmester 911mk3 being fed by the balanced preout of the 051. I also had a Luxman 509x in during that period. -

That's consistent with my experience. I had mine in my main system from May until October. I played music, tv, movies, etc every day. I had considered parting with them sooner as the bass hadn't showed up until well into September. When it did, it was like a light switch. -

Just traded in some A5's on a set of S5 Mkii's. I wasn't sure i made the right choice but it is a very clear improvement to me. I would say however that the treble of the S5's seems somewhat forward by comparison to the a5's at first. It takes about one evening of listening to realize that... -
