I agree with your hypothesis and conclusion on the Lampi DACs. Furthermore, I'm really satisfied with the sound that even the more "pedestrian" rectifiers provide in the DAC. Just thought I'd share my experience as a data point. Thanks for weighing in.
Just had a Taki 274B die on me with less than 1000 hrs so I ran a quick forum search to see if this was a fluke. Looks like not a completely isolated incident.
Do we know if LampiNA has resumed offering these upgrades? The last I check (1-2 months ago) they responded to my inquiry saying these upgrades were not resuming yet.
A Shindo dealer near me suggested that replacing switchcraft posts be performed every 10 years as routine maintenance. I try to just leave a dedicated Shindo or A23 IC in place indefinitely figuring that would obviate the need to perform such measures.
Lumin recently released a firmware update for USB. I'm using a U1 streamer and connect via USB to my Lampi DAC. The sound seems a bit smoother and organic but perhaps I'm imagining it. Anyone else evaluating this update too? Not exactly sure what the update was expected to do.
For diagnostic purposes, have you tried lifting the ground, first on the table, and then each of your other components on the same circuit? At least this may isolate which component is creating the loop.
Did you upgrade an existing TRP or buy a new one configured to Engine 11? I ask because in US it seems Lampi hasn't resumed the upgrade service based on my last inquiry to LampiNA.
Thanks. Your input is consistent with other's experiences I'm learning. I agree on the SUT synergy and am currently using an A23 SUT configured for EMT carts - it's amazing and sounds much better than using the EQ-500 MC stage with the EMT cart. I keep receiving rave reviews on the Leben and I...
I've always wondered whether manufacturers actually calculate the average (eg best fit analysis) or they are just eyeballing and perhaps even tipping the spec towards their marketing aspiration. It's also important to understand where in the frequency range the amp is seeing the most...
Just noticed this post a year later - wasn't flagged since there was no @ in front of my name.
The referenced loading is the cart's internal. The actual loading is much higher - ~110 ohms for MC High, and ~50 ohms for MC low. Explained pretty nicely on page 32 of this pdf...
I realize this is an old thread but I was curious about any non-Kuzma tables that pair well with the 4Point9. Any experiences to share? I'd like to upgrade my table but want to retain the 4Point arm. I'm obviously also considering Kuzma tables but was curious about all options that could make...
What's wrong with endeavoring to continuously upgrade our lives in general? You only go around once so you should try to gain as many experiences (including ones of the musical variety) and extract every ounce of joy possible. Provided that I'm not behaving irresponsibly with my money or with...
Be careful going to this path. While I understand your intent, this type of "gatekeeping" can be perceived as not being inclusive and generally off-putting to folks wanting to participate at all which would be contrary to the site's "mission" of sharing.
This is exactly what I decided to do a few years ago. Adding the 4Point9 to the Stabi S was a major upgrade over the original Stogi arm - with impact beyond what I was expecting. With this said, I'd love to upgrade the table to the Stabi R at some point but it's become less of a priority.
