Official Thread to Report Bugs, Concerns or Suggestions With The New Site Platform

Nice look. Shame about the banner ads taking up a full screen at the top of almost every page. (Top of main pages, OK. Top of almost every page, no.)

    Hallelujah-Leonard Cohen

I wish this was more than 2 verses long, but the format of the show means you only have about 2 minutes to make an impression: She won the show with this one: Stay With Me Baby (Lorraine Ellison)

Music Videos - - The Greats!

There's a short documentary about her life. It's a harrowing watch. Another life saved by music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zt9sXYrj0rc Her performance of "Hallelujah", from the documentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pfiZA0UCkw

Music Videos - - The Greats!

Thanks for that. She's a true entertainer. Maybe not the world's greatest voice, but it's the way she uses it - the whole package. If you like soul music, here's someone with less stage presence but a remarkable voice. And unlike Courtney, she really did come from nowhere. The audition: The...

Wrong Shui..... aka Mitsubishi evo 6 stroker rebuild thread

Ah, son of Godzilla. :D They were rare here, unusual because we were awash with R32 Skyline GTRs. I had a very different playground - it was almost all city / urban driving. I somehow avoided ever getting a ticket. Bridgestone S-03. They were especially good in the wet. They had a graduated...

Wrong Shui..... aka Mitsubishi evo 6 stroker rebuild thread

I was, about 20 years ago... I used to spend almost as much on tyres and brake pads as I did on gas. About 7.5k miles per set of tyres... (Mazda GT-X, JDM, same body as the 1990+ Protege sedan in US / Canada, 323 saloon in the UK.) Unusually, it was designed to run on regular unleaded. It had...

Music Videos - - The Greats!

... so I sat through the car advertisement, waiting for the music video to start, and... nothing.

HD Vinyl is a massive improvement over traditional vinyl records.

The patent is linked to from their website. (Actually, in the comment from Techspot at the bottom of the page.) By itself, the beam can't be focussed to the size required. The accuracy required to cut nanometre features is achieved by precisely adjusting the duration of each laser pulse...

HD Vinyl is a massive improvement over traditional vinyl records.

According to the patent, they are using laser ablation. You can get features down into the 10s of nM range without having to resort to exotic lasers.

Michael Fremer’s Unequaled Intellectual Honesty and True Comparative Review Rigor

It's so perfectly worded, with a finely judged excess of fulsome praise, that it can be interpreted either way.

Michael Fremer’s Unequaled Intellectual Honesty and True Comparative Review Rigor

+1, Ron. Not everyone shares your admiration for MF, but for them your post reads equally well as a piece of dark sarcasm... ;)

    Recording Studio Cables Organizing

I suggest you try Gearslutz Forum, if you haven't already. But by all means update here if you get some good tips, because many audiophiles also face the problem of a rat's nest of wires behind the equipment shelves.

The WBF humor and joke thread.

A wife awoke early one morning to find her husband wasn't in bed. She found him in the lounge, sobbing. "What's the matter?" she asked. "Well, today is our wedding anniversary", he replied. "You remember when your father, the sheriff, found out you were pregnant and said if I didn't marry...

    Mechanical Diodes? Really?

The idea may have its roots in the symbol used for drawing diodes in electrical schematics. The only time I've ever found spikes to be useful is in preventing speakers and equipment racks from putting flat spots in carpet. They improve the sound by reducing the level of disapproval from the...
