Guys. I have the following system >
- Streamer > Aurender N10
- Dac > Emm Labs DAC2X V2
- Pre > Pass Labs XP10
- Amp > Pass Labs X250.5
If you would be upgrading, would you replace the DAC2X V2 with the DA2 V2 or both the DAC2X V2 and Pass XP-10 with the DV2 ?
Guys, it seems all my problems were solved when I switched to the new gear :)
Aurender N10 + DAC2Xv2 replaced my old CDSAse and now lower frequencies are perfectly aligned with the others both in presence (volume) and resolution + impact. I am quite happy now.
Aurender N10 is here now to pair with DAC2X v2 and replace my CDSAse. So, CDSA vs CDSA + DAC2Xv2 vs N10 + DAC2Xv2 all sound pretty different. CDSAse alone is still amazing for its age. CDSA + DAC2X has more detail all around, more air, veeery delicate highs. N10 + DAC2X has a fuller bodied sound...
Never messed with that mass tuning cavity but I will give it a try, thanks ! Same goes for playing with the rear port.
PS : Since starting this topic, DAC2X v2 came and CDSA is now used as a transport for it until the Streamer will replace it. Sound has better articulation now.
Speakers are now 225cm away from wall, so that's 1/3rd from the room's length (690cm). Distance to side walls is 157cm, so much less than distance to back wall. Bass is quite decent and even now but still feel the 11" is a bit behind that midrange. I tend to agree with sbo6 that 400Hz is a bit...
Listened to a lot of subs in the past (none at that level however) and could always feel the sub working separately from speakers. How's the integration in your case, Yuen ?
Guys, thanks for the latest recommendations but DAC2X v2 is on its way already (should be here in couple of days). Afterwards, streamer to replace my CDSA (for now will use it as a transport for DAC2X v2).
Where does the Q-sub take the signal from ? My Pass XP-10 preamp only has 2 XLR outs and 2 RCAs. XLRs are already used for the power amp that drives the speakers.
Glad you liked my country, if you come by again, let me know and I'll point you to some beautiful places :) . DAC2X v2 should be here soon to replace the CDSAse. Next on the list is the streamer. I was wondering if streamers allow for some sort of room correction software. Maybe after measuring...
Played with this calculator today after moving the bass traps and absorbers a bit with no improvement. Distance from wall was 205cm and it seems there was a null there. Moved the speakers 20cm closer to me @ 225cm from the wall behind them and sound became much more linear with bass and midbass...
Yes, I know the theory. For a certain frequency you'd need 1/4th of it's wavelength in the bass trap which equals several meters ! As for the fiberglass, we don't have Owen's around here but Knauf and Isover (ridgid boards and rolls). Rolls have less density and are not stable physically so they...
