Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Yes, I read the bolder narrative when you posted it but it seemed inconsistent with #19,346 and others from the old thread so it was hard to reconcile #84 with prior posts there. Thank you for clarifying.

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

If we keep our Extreme and purchase the Olympus I/O, can the now-AC-powered Extreme be converted to DC-powered? If so, how would that be done?

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Congratulations! The team generally looks (to a man) like only one, not two, are needed to pick up an Extreme and move it around…..,

Furutech makes a cable riser / booster which would address that if there is adequate space on the platform or shelf. Others may also. https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/power-cable-lifts-risers-etc.35563/

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

I started using a fan in connection with posts 16,289 and 16,302. It is not coming in contact with the Extreme, is 2 1/2” below it on a wood platform, and plugged into a non-audio outlet. Haven’t experimented with and without yet, only with.

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

That’s been my experience if there is too much damping. In my setup, one or two brass triple point heavy hats that each weigh 23.8 oz. sounds a bit better, but YMMV. Three seems too many, but I am still experimenting. I was mainly asking if reduced air circulation could be a concern, but with...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Any guidelines regarding vibration-control weights to put on top of the Extreme? Also, will vibration be lower once a BPS is in use, reducing any upside on such a tweak? I have had success with Mapleshade brass heavy hats on other gear, but am not sure if because of air circulation that isn’t...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Yes, I know where to find the product page. I was asking in the context of the first batch of 100 being sold out and the 2nd batch not being available until autumn, and was assuming that each batch is not a mix of chrome and black.

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

I wonder if with the Taiko DAC when it is available can one go directly into one's amplifier. Will the Taiko server + DAC have a volume control?

I don’t see anything there by the Ramones…..

I would think the digital interface would be powered internally by the BPS the same way as a USB card this not need a DC jack, unless I misunderstood your post?

I have 1.75” clearance between my rug and the bottom of the Extreme, and the fan is only 1” thick. The sound of the fan should be lower underneath, if it moves enough air from there to matter. My footers are Townshend Pods, ergo the height.
