I was just over at Mike's, and hadn't been there in about 4 weeks or so, since he got his new amps. As usual there were lot's of changes since I was there.
The multiple LPS, Evo Spec and Daiza were new additions.
The last time I was at Mike's I thought the combination of latest MSB Select...
My first time jumping onto this thread. I heard Mike's system yesterday and his latest digital set up with MSB and SGM was the best digital I have heard by a wide margin. It has really closed the gap on the best vinyl playback. I've been lucky enough to hear Mike's digital journey since before...
My experience with break-in follows:
1st hour is radical. I don't think prior cable cooking is that significant so I just recommend installing and putting up with the first day. It's important to do a good install with wires properly stripped, cleaned and torqued connections for consistency...
All of the NCF versions are Rhodium plated. I personally no longer use the Gold any more and rarely get any requests for it. As far as I know, Rhodium has been outselling Gold by quite a bit over the last couple years, so it doesn't surprise me that the new NCF series is only available in...
I use the FI-09 NCF chassis mount IEC (15 amp) because it has similar construction and sound quality as the GTX-D NCF outlets. Highly recommended.

All kidding aside Mike, the system with the new digital gear is simply amazing. Listening to Simon and Garfunkel was like they were right there, I could reach out and touch them. Classical music was so natural and effortless, it was unnecessary to raise the volume level, dynamics were so...
Looks like the cover works like Furutech's Axial Locking System (very cool). There will be an ideal screw adjustment for best performance.
The cover is very stiff so don't try to screw it down till it bottoms out, you may crack it. Just as the screw makes contact (not loose), no more than...
Each different wall construction will have a unique sound. And it's my opinion that the outlets are microphonic, especially to low frequency bass. The GTX Wall Plate helps to provide a sonically neutral mounting surface. Furutech's special finish helps to lower resonance. Aluminum is also good...
The US Furutech Distributor provided the following explanation for the 105-D NCF size difference:
"Furutech did not provide any instructions for the 105-D NCF when used with the GTX Wall Plate in the packaging, so you may have customers ask why the 105-D NCF does not fit snugly in the GTX...
The first impression was increased dynamics, both macro and micro, which really surprised me. Increased jump factor/slam.
Reduced noise floor and increased transparency, the ambient environment was just quieter, very cool. Increased ease, with greater reality/suspension of disbelief. We kill...
The new Furutech 105-D NCF covers are really awesome. They are my new reference.
For those who have existing GTX Wall Plate installed with the Teflon Damping Foil, I'm not sure if you need to remove it. I need to do some comparative listening. If others have done some comparisons I'd be...
I installed Mike's GTX-D NCF duplex receptacles according to code. Ground wire is connected to the receptacle ground connection. So the ground is not isolated.
