Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Confirming what Christiaan said, none of mine changed afaik.

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

FWIW, I just did the update via my PC (I do have the port forwarding set on my router, so I can access the router via192.168.1.171) and everything went smoothly....

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Am I right in thinking that port forwarding (if set up in the TaikoAudio router) would still function without adjustment after the home router reacquires the Taiko router via DHCP? Or would one need to adjust the port forwarding manually to reflect the new IP address?

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

I've experimented with a setup that seems to work for me, is quite convenient, and which I don't believe degradates the sound quality (please let me know if that's not true). I use my iPad for general music control (wireless to TaikoRouter), but have relied on my desktop previously for VPN and...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

I'm guessing here, but there is the option for Discovery or Concert at the top. And in Settings, under Extreme Server/Player settings, there's something called Sound Profile, which gives one a Default and Alternative option. Someone more knowledgeable than me can perhaps explain exactly what the...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Christiaan, unfortunately I do not have photos to share, but there were at least 2 rooms featuring Extremes at the recent CAF (Capital Audio Fest) in Washington D.C., plus at least 1 room that I saw at Axpona a few months ago in Chicago.

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Someone will correct me no doubt if I've got this wrong, but my understanding now is that the DAC profile sets the buffer size and once a new profile is loaded (from the Extreme desktop) it stays until someone manually loads a different one. Eventually that looks to be configurable in xdms...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Ed, thanks for the quick reply! Can you point me to the config file so I could adjust that setting? I saw you do that, but didn't take note of where that file resides. On the USB profile, xdms shows in DAC settings that I'm using the 4 profile (which I think you set based on my old dac profile)...

Another point of clarification, if someone happens to know the answer. How do the USB choices (1-4) and bit-rate settings interact, if at all, with xdms? I understand how to adjust those for Roon, but it's unclear to me whether they even matter for xdms--and, if so, how to adjust them for my...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Not exactly a parallel situation, but I used to be able to run my Taiko version of the Aqua Formula xHD 2.0 driver (WASAPI) alternately in Roon with my exaSound ASIO64 e38 drivers (both the 2ch and MC versions). But when the custom Taiko USB driver for the xHD became ASIO (at least that's my...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Hmm, gives me pause for thought, Emile. The 'last mile' of my current setup still has fiber running 50' from one floor down to the Extreme in my music room. Does putting a simple converter between that and the Extreme make sense? I've used something like this before: "10Gtek 1.25G Media...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Emile, my impression from Ed is that there are no plans to support HQplayer with XDMS. Is that still true? I ask only because of my issue with trying to find a workable solution to play back all of my MC files through Roon--> XDMS going forward. Thanks.

Sorry it wasn't that simple; maybe someone else has a better explanation :). Jerry
