Just Saw This On Another Forum.

I posted this on Facebook a few minutes ago... Andy Singer Forgive me as it has taken me a while to get my thoughts together about the terrible news that Andy Singer had passed. I first met Andy Singer in 1989 when I moved to New York to work at Shearson Lehman Hutton. I had an Adcom system...

Downsizing from dCS Vivaldi Stack? Is this dumb?

I found that mine took 200-300 hours to get to full speed. The Rossini Apex is a truly great DAC.

    Most vinyl-sounding DAC?

What happens if it breaks? Will Stax still service it?

Elliot, Is this a transport or a transport and DAC?

Lost tapes from major musicians are out there. These guys find them

Great article and fortunately no paywall. I heard some cool stories at Axpona about tapes from labels being left at Bernie Grundman's place and the labels just not picking them up for many, many years. Sort of boggles the mind how sloppy the music business is.

    RIP Jack Clark

    Sad news.

Axpona 2024 who is going and why?

It was very good but not as good as Florida.

Axpona 2024 who is going and why?

I would al Clarity, timbre, and imaging were really impressive. A truly great room. It was also great to see Brandon doing his thing again.

Axpona 2024 who is going and why?

It was such a great show! I’m writing a detailed report for Positive Feedback but these were some standout rooms and gear for me: Devore Orangutan Bronze (so musical and natural) Quintessence Alexx V, Relentless, Vivaldi, Clearaudio (incredible dynamics, detail, and musicality) T+A Audio...

"Long-Term Equipment Loans: A Win-Win for Everyone" by Robert Harley, The Absolute Sound

No, it’s not just about clarity. I just quickly picked that as one of several that came to mind. I had been listening to some guitar recordings I did and the Vs did a remarkable job of transporting me back to the venue. Clarity was one aspect. So these Wilson examples are in my Alexia Vs...

So I looked up the JBL M9500 speakers and they appear to be circa 1994. Why not include modern technology like tighter speaker cabinets, better drivers, and better capacitors? Seems maybe that would be the best of both worlds. I have an open mind about different approaches sounding better but...

    Tape Pancakes, Oh No!

Yes, I have a bunch and they are wobbly as all hell.

Jay's in a tough position in that he wants to do audio full-time but making real money on it via just a YouTube channel is very difficult unless you have 100K+ or even 200K+ subscribers. I believe he would say that he needs to make money in other areas like audio consulting for a fee, being a...

"Long-Term Equipment Loans: A Win-Win for Everyone" by Robert Harley, The Absolute Sound

Just a reminder as someone with deep experience in creating hires digital recordings...digital has it's own share of distortions: lossy ADC and DAC, zero crossing distortion, jitter, etc.
