    Why Synergy horns?

Nick, you could wrap the Rockwool in some plastic and then finalize it with some cloth of your liking. The thicker the plastic (more layers) the less the absorber will absorb the high frequencies.

    Why Synergy horns?

Went to Royal Arena in Copenhagen, last night to see one of my Bucket List bands Dave Matthews Band. Unfortunately we sat farthest away from the stage and with the concert hall only filled 2/3 a lot of echoes was present from the empty seats. People are actually very good sound absorbers. Kick...

Does DSP belong in State of the Art Systems?

Yes, hence the room target curve becomes a critical point, where small adjustment of 0,1 dB over the entire audio frequency band, aka very broad Q (small number Q), is audible. This room tilt is paramount, to get the right overall sound balance, but is often overlooked or ignored. One will have...

DSP/EQ crash course for Dummies. EQ is for adjusting the room impact in the bass and correct the speakers near field response over aprox. 500 Hz. It sounds most natural, if the sound from the speakers has approximately the same timbre as live musicians would get when performing in the same...

Tim, if you want to get your feet wet, I can generate some filters for you, free of charge :D All you need to do is take left and right measurements of your speakers in the listening position and export them as wav files. REW can do that, or just send me the mdat REW file. Then I can generate...

Tim Link, Audiolense don't run an a Mac, but the convolution filter can. So you can have your filters generated by Mitch Barnett or any other providing that service and then run it from your Mac. Or simply buy a Windows PC, even an old cheap one would suffice, but you will have to check with the...

Does DSP belong in State of the Art Systems?

tony22, it is quite unproblematic to flatten the frequency response below 100 Hz, as it is primarily what is called minimum phase issues and can thus be corrected for without a penalty. You will of course have to keep an eye on not over powering the speakers and in this example it is only a mild...

Does DSP belong in State of the Art Systems?

Hear Here, you should learn to distinguish between minimum and non-minimum phase response. That helps a lot when doing EQ and in understanding room acoustics.

Yep, the willingness for flagellantism within certain types of audio folks, surprises me over and over again, even with the just finished Easter holidays in mind :D
