    Thorens New TT

Got it, quite exciting! And sorry to ask, but can you confirm the retail pricing and whether it's with tonearm/etc? Thanks

Is this the same machine that was released last year?

Taiko Audio XDMS - Extreme Direct Music Server Software

Thanks for the update. I vote for putting all the necessary Taiko resources on finishing XDMS first, before taking on other projects. It’s been a long time, and I’m disappointed to read that it’s still very much in “alpha”, with no date commitment for completion.

    Shunyata Grounding System

Right, I guess not. I‘m sure Richard would tell you to try it both ways and listen to see if you hear any differences.

Metaxas Tape Machines Secure U.S. + Canada Distribution

Spent a few minutes trying to decipher what you meant and what value it’s adding. Time I will never get back. Thousands of albums are available on tape, with known provenance. Can you afford them at $400+ a pop? That’s why I wrote it’s expensive, but not difficult to build a collection on tape.

It shouldn’t matter if the resistance is the same. Connect to the point where measured resistance between the point and the AC ground pin is lowest.

    It’s not hard, it‘s expensive! ;)

Amazing, congratulations! Jeff is a great guy and will be there when necessary, I’m sure. What colors did you select? Also wanted to recall the TAS review of the Tourbillon, which was the best review I have ever read, of any audio component, in ~30 years of being in this hobby.

Nice! Are you considering buying one?

Totally agree. As “blingy” as the Metaxas stuff appears to be, he’s only concerned about how it sounds // especially for a tape machine which has been his main passion. He’s like Hervé in this regard - the DartZeel look is certainly very blingy! I am not sure any tape playback system will...

Metaxas Tape Machines Secure U.S. + Canada Distribution

Yeah, the prototype that was not quite working well. This happens. My brand new DartZeel 18NS was DOA. My new 108 amp had mismatched LEDs. Herve took care of it. I’m not judging DartZeel based on a couple of flaws. Service is exceptional and the components have been flawless since. Just a few...

I agree with you that 13,000 EUR for the AAD is a great price, no question there. I don’t understand $27,000 in the US though. Herve is a friend and I can assure you he has not heard the Metaxas Papillion, and only briefly saw a prototype Tourbillon at an audio show years ago. I am arranging a...

I have not listened to them in the same system at the same time. Comments based on observation of the machines running: * the TP-1000 had some wobble in the first roller coming off the left real. * single vs dual capstan * some plastic components in the tape path * Metaxas power supply is...

Metaxas Tape Machines Secure U.S. + Canada Distribution

I am not intent on trashing anyone - just sharing my experiences when considerIng which new tape machine to buy. I have zero affiliation to any company. At $10k the TP-1000 was affordable. Around 2 years later, it’s now $27,000. That doesn’t make any sense, and neither does a 50% premium for...
