I think I should add this data also:
I tried the Western Electric JW2C51 / 396A with the 6922 Adapter Combo from Tube Depot. The tubes made the preamp go into oscillation. I was getting weird noises out the speakers. Even after removing the tubes the preamp was still in oscillation mode. I...
I have been using the preamp since Dec 2023. I have been rolling tubes. Very good experience with electro-harmonix with cyro treatment, JJ's, Philips ECG, Philips 7dj8 SQ. Shortly I will have a quad of the mullards.

I just heard some sad news that Bill Thalmann of Music Technology (and former conrad-johnson Design engineer), has passed away early this week.
I met Bill while having to get repairs at conrad-johnson bask in the 80’s. He then started his own company Music Technology in Springfield, Va.

This story reminds me of local audiophile who has a 1-2 million system. He invites you over, you knock on the door, he opens the door and the first statement is: “ARE YOU WORTHY TO VISIT & LISTEN”. I always responded with a “not in the least”. I dropped out of that social circle!
What’s different about the latest model?
A: Better RCA connectors
B: Better tube sockets
C: Better PCB isolation
D: Better layout of signal tracings
E: Better Pwr supply design
F: Mosfets are not in the signal path.
G: Critical parts evaluation for sonic attributes in critical locations

Big Dog RJ; This is a just secret but in 2035, the Grande Premier Series will be released. There is still lot of room for tubes and component parts to improve.
I think Jeff will be around for the next Ten years.
I can say that finding Engineers interested in Audio interested in tube audio is outside the norm today. Most electrical engineering are new hires across the US foreign students. US Collages do not teach vacuum tube technology. I work in...
They have a R and D engineer. He does the CAD work and new COTS products (connectors, resistors, etc) investigations. BTW: I will have a ART phono after today. I will report back!
