What about the Absolare components did you not care for?
Hi Ron - not about what was bad about the Absolare. More about i got this Audia Flight and it was just perfect in every way . Better tone. Better texture. better midrange. Better imaging ...... everything.

It was quite the revelation as i have had very highly regarded Class A powerful mono block solid state amps in the past and they drove me to tears with their thin lean unmusical sound.

and before u ask - no - they work a treat with the ceramic drivers

I should just clarify on Pweg's behalf he was referring to his previous AF Strumento No 4 (which has now been traded up for the No 8 mono's as mentioned earlier). Though having heard the little FLS-3 S integrated driving his Coltrane 3's, blindfolded you'd swear you were listening to a $20k+ amp. Great sound!

Very interesting! Which Absolare amplifiers did you have?

How come we hear 50X more about CH Precision than we hear about Audia Flight?

the PSET mono ones not push pull, not integrated

Wow. That is so different than high-power solid-state! (I like that Absolare PSET.)

Purely out of curiosity have you ever heard a CH Precision amplifier? (I ask because I am always fascinated when somebody switches from SET to high-power solid-state.)

TBH no - my dealer sells CHF and once i had a CHF Dac in my system but i didn't care for it .........

the thing is .... in my system with my speakers, the AF amp was sounding more tube like than the tube amp!!! Apart from the bass which was just stronger, deeper, tighter.

but as u know im very sensitive to middle and upper frequencies and this brand just does something very right there

Interesting. I am sensitive to middle and upper frequencies too. This is a main reason I like tubes.

Have you ever compared Audia Flight to a Gryphon amplifier or a Vitus amplifier?

Very i n t e r e s t i n g. I think we have to get some members on top of this Audia Flight amp stuff to compare to Gryphon, Vitus and Pass.

Yes still have the Marten Coltrane 3. Ive got Audia Flight Strumento 8 monos ordered and pre will be the new Dartzeel pre coming at the end of the year

i got the Audia Flight Strumento 4 stereo amp just to try and it was absolutely fabulous, so i traded it back and ordered the monos
I heard the Coltrane 3 recently with Vitus 101 monos was stunning
Interestingly had Enigma soprainnos as well which added a certain high frequency magic and purity

Sacd player was the Luxman D u8 which was very impressive as timbrally dense with welcomed harmonic “spray” cabling was Fono

the D3A is a very good machine.

My original remarks still stand. My only criticism of the machine is its lack of versatility/flexibility. If you want to play with different carts its not really helpful in this endeavour.

Thanks - appreciated.

Out of interest, how do you change the cart loading on the Mayer?
