Revisited ...

First time in 4K. Same movie, same sound (Dolby Atmos), just slightly improved picture.
Film: 73
Picture (HDR): 89
Audio (Atmos): 97

Last word: Good entertainment based on a true story...Michael Bay's style.
For me, his best film. For some, The Rock. For others, you name it ... between Pearl Harbor, Armageddon, The Ninja Turtles and The Transformers franchise.

13 Hours has good replay value, and it rocks. It's a sound assault from all around.
...In a patriotic spirit.

* Learning about the real true story is a better food plate for the brain.

Bodhi, you must love that movie ...
https://www.whatsbestforum.com/thre...dvd-and-what-was-it.2876/page-137#post-562204

And even more so with zero comment twice. Lol :)
Good detective work. Yes it's my favorite movie, and I plead guilty to having watched it many times. As for the zero comments, the thread title just asked for name, rank and serial number. But in a nuthsell, I relate strongly to Christian Slater's character in the movie who, having recently moved interstate, finds himself isolated and alone and trying to make sense of the world, whilst fighting against corruption; in this case in the school system. And not just for teens!

It's not detective work, my memory works excellent.

Yes, comments are not prerogative, it's the same with photos, pictures, paintings, etc.
A picture is worth a thousand words ...

Thanks for the comments; in the first twenty seconds of the trailer we get a good idea.
And the movie is a romance, a love story, just like real life in the world today, from Madagascar to Phi Phi Islands.

Yesterday, June 24, was very special, it was a big celebration day.
Check what 24 of June is for Quebecois, plus that guy returning to Earth from space after 204 days...seven months roughly.

Overall score: 100

Last word: It doesn't happen every day and every year...both events simultaneously.

I watched 'Wild' again last night for about the 6th time. The movie is based on the book Wild by Cheryl Strayed & is an inspiring story of how Cheryl turned her troubled life around by solo hiking 1100 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail in 1995. Interestingly she finished the book many years later in 2012, with the movie following 2014. It is one of my favorite movies.

It's the music ... Steinway & Sons piano.

Last night I revisited Lost Highway (David Lynch director) from the newest Blu-ray version, freshly re-released recently.

I like it best, this new BR version from Kino Lorber.
The picture reflects the closest the overall soul of the film...moving pictures and moving sounds.

Overall (film & technical merits...regardless of David Lynch's disapproval of the distributor): 77

Some of you are already familiar with this film, and with all David Lynch's films.
But if you aren't, just a small word of caution: This is NOT your friendly easy family Disney mouse type of flick. It's not animated either a la Mickey mouse, and neither CGI Marvel comic superheroes Avengers style.
It's a film made by an adult for adults. If you can make sense of the storyline (first you need to know that storyline...not an easy task) then you're on safe grounds with Lynch's unique twisted filmmaking style.

The music score is an essential element of the overall atmosphere.
It's a wild ride, definitely. Hang on tight to your pulse and your brain.
And so far it's the definitive best version on Blu. IMHO, with extreme prejudice.

Last night I revisited 'The Island' (2005), a Michael Bay's flick. ...On Blu-ray.

IMO it is highly underrated.

Overall: 77

The music score is phenomenal, the cinematography sublime.
The storyline was ahead of its time, the decor sets are splendid.
Michael Bay deserves more credits for his films than what movie critics gave him; for this one certainly. This is audiophile and videophile stuff...all the way.
It sounds and looks brilliant, electrifying, engulfing, captivating, enrapturing, ...
The acting is fun fine. The concept is imaginative.

The replay value is sky high. Just listen to the music score for two hours plus and tell me that you didn't fly to another dimension...way of speech of course.
I recommend to every audiophile here @ WBF, very.

I have never hear of this film but will order once I finish typing this. Thanks

" Keeping on pace with the excellent video transfer, Paramount has also provided 'The Island' with an outstanding DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track.

Boy, does this track deliver the goods in the heavy action sequences. Bass effects are frequently featured as well as heavy surround effects in everything from cars crashing all around you to bullets flying all over the place. Dialogue is also clear and centered.

At times things may seem a tad bit shaky on the low end, but overall this a demo worthy disc and exactly what you would expect from a Michael Bay soundtrack.

As far as Bay movies go, I would put 'The Island' towards the top of his list, it shows us he can direct an action movie driven by a good story, and the result is very entertaining."

Thanks. I had already ordered but these reviews most certainly indicate it should be a fun ride. Reading the various movie descriptions, it seems to be a combination of George Orwell's book, 1984 (was it ever made a movie?) and a old movie called Logan's Run, but with a Michael Bay spin. Thanks again for letting me know about this one.

I was curious about what others said about this flick, and I was surprised that they too agree.
Except for the thing that struck me personally the most last night...the music score.
Other reviewers don't mention it.

The thing we agree most is the polished picture...a Michael Bay's attribute.
The story concept too is quite futuristic and @ the same time realistic in some ways.
And the decor sets very nice, plus the action scenes high caliber.

It's a 15-year old flick but it holds very very well and it has better replay value than watching it only once...the first time. ...For me anyway.
So I might give the film a 7.5 out of ten but an 8.5 for replay value...in that vicinity anyway.

If I'm in the mood tonight I might watch Alita: Battle Angel 3D.
If not sometime this week ... Then the 4K version (3D takes precedence over 4K for most films, from my own eyes and cinema experience immersiveness). I like combo packages like this one, best of both worlds. It's not cheap here...$40 (with tax), and $50 for the SteelBook.

I'm away from home but Alita (the movie, not the character) was just delivered yesterday. I have high (probably unreasonably high) expectations for that movie - story line, audio and video !!

I had to turn my sub down while watching Alita: Battle Angel. It has some serious LFE. I like the movie and the visuals are stunning on my projector screen.

Alita: Battle Angel comes in various video formats...which one?
This package has the Blu-ray 3D, the 4K Ultra HD BR, the Blu-ray 2D and the 4K Digital Code.

I started with the 3D BR version first; very very very (((good))).
I'll say some more after watching the 4K version, with Dolby Atmos ...
... About the film content (value), and its technical merits (visuals and sounds ... immersiveness).
