Steve, I am going to buy this on DVD when it is released. From what I have read here it is worth having, and rewatching.

Bud, good news I just learned yesterday ...

The proof is in the pudding (the demand was high enough to supply the wishes);

* Both Game of Thrones and Chernobyl are the most best watched HBO series ever.

I saw that stat as well last week. I thought it remarkable that this 5 part miniseries betters an 8 year series where each episode cost $10M and there were a lot of episodes.

I’m not bothered by some of the historic inaccuracies told in Chernobyl because, for me at least, it made me take notice of the story that I thought I knew. I was truly riveted. Many times we pushed reverse to replay some dialog we missed and some times we even watched with subtitles on so that we didn’t have to rewind.

Chernobyl is going to win a lot of Emmy’s.

Steve, I agree. I too am not bothered by some of the inaccuracies; I gained much much more in accurate facts from researching extensively deeper from the HBO mini series inspiration.
This is TV viewing @ its best, with real impact. When something grabs your attention and makes you search deeper and further...it achieves its goal. It's the same with music, with audio, with life.

Chernobyl is essential viewing.
If I was asked to rate it: 88 (mini series only; with the additional searching and reading...100).

It's funny ... talking about the truth ... HBO own Chernobyl show ...

https://deadline.com/2019/06/cherno...ban-hbo-miniseries-in-the-country-1202632582/

Also there is a big surge in tourist attraction for visitors @ Chernobyl.
The popular HBO 5-part mini series contributed to that surge.
And some people took it to promote their own image on Instagram and other social medias.
And some even faked the location...attractive models. Weird people with weird/plastic fake life's values.

The more we learn about the truth the more it becomes clear the world we live in ...

I was a bit sleepy by then*. :)

Those three small metal tube tanks attached to their back were not oxygen tanks?
Their big flashlights went off, in the HBO show.

I'm waiting for the Russian version, with that CIA agent followed by the KGB.
Should be a good spy movie.
https://www.express.co.uk/news/worl...-show-hbo-nuclear-disaster-cia-conspiracy/amp

”There is a theory that Americans infiltrated the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

"Many historians do not rule out the possibility that on the day of the explosion, an agent of the enemy's intelligence services was working at the station."

Russia’s culture ministry has reportedly contributed 30 million rubles (£363,000) to the show.

* Yes, the 3 divers survived, two are still alive today according to HBO.

Received an email today from Amazon saying the Blu-Ray will arrive 10/1. Hopefully, it shows up sooner.

The Blu-Ray arrived this week, and I am on episode 1 tonight. Had to take a music break to calm down before continuing. What a mess.

I saw the series today on the flight back to LAX. It definitely was pretty heavy!

Is it true that Russia is the only country which builds nuclear power reactors without containment chambers?

There are only a handful of countries that build commercial nuclear power generators namely China, Korea, Japan, France, Russia and the US. AFAIK all except Russia use containment chambers and Russia may well be doing so now. Rolls Royce do a small one for nuclear subs and are looking to build small commercial nuclear generators which I am sure would have to have a containment chamber to get regulatory approval.

I am not surprised that Russia proved once against its disregard for the health and lives of its subjugated inhabitants — this time from accidental nuclear radiation emission.

I don’t understand why Russia has not been sued for hundreds of billions of Euros in the International Court of Justice in The Hague to compensate hundreds of victims across Europe for cancer and medical expenses due to radiation from a negligently designed power plant. It is a mass tort suitable for a class action lawsuit.

It would be the USSR that would have to be sued, but it no longer exists. The Chernobyl power plant sits in the country of Ukraine today, and the Ukrainian government can't be held responsible for the poor actions of a government that no longer exists.
