I really love how alive the current jazz scene is... I was raised old school so I do love the jazz of the 50’s and 60’s but the future is just so very bright for jazz.

Currently listening to plenty of Ambrose Akinmusire, Shabaka Hutchins and the Sons of Kehmet, Jamie Saft and the New Standard, Walter Smith the III, Plume, Aaron Parks, Christian Scott, Wotjeck Mazolewski,Tenderlonius, Kamaal Williams, Keyon Harrold, Allison Miller, Kamaasi Washington, Alfa Mist, Marcus Miller, Robert Glasper, Robert Loueke, Michael Wollny, Kirk Knuffke, Marcin Wasilewski, Butcher Brown, Avishai Cohen, Kendrick Scott, Shai Maestro, Omer Klein, Manu Katche, Tord Gustavsen, Benedict Jahnel to name a few... jazz is just so very alive and so very well.

Just now playing Makaya McCraven...

And don’t forget the new female jazz artists coming through, here’s a great article on some fresh talent.

The ACT label is a never ending stream of great new jazz. Qobuz has most (all?) their catalog online for streaming, and some of it even makes it to vinyl, in great quality too.

There is so much new Jazz music to be discovered and rediscovered too; just not enough time in a life. ...Working on ...
Yes it’s hard to keep up Bob. For me it’s the streaming accessibility that is making me realise just how much new music there is actually out there. Not complaining though :)

In the 50s we didn't have computers with Internet jazz music access; so we didn't know how vast the Jazz music repertoire was...we (I was) were listening to John Coltrane then, and Thelonius Monk...in the 60s and 70s.

Now in the 20s (almost), we are reborn in Jazz. :) ...Seventy, sixty, fifty years (half century) later.

Of all the PM albums in my collection, this remains the one that gets most plays & it’s on again now......

That's one of Lonnie's best albums, IMHO! His playing, of course, but the songs are great, and the drumming is just exquisite. Sound is pretty good too. I used to use the title track as demo music :)
