Ron, haven't made up my mind yet. Amplifiers that I have in my music room are dartZeel, Wyetech Topaz, Classe DR3b & a BAT VK200 at my home music room. Once Diva's are here I will play with these option and if it doesn't work have my eye on Lamm R1.2, Ayre MXR Twenty, Krells vintage, ML vintage, Gryphon and even possible of some hybrid class D amps. So once my build on the Island is ready will move my music gear over there. Trying to elimante some of the variables here on the mainland before having to bring a boatload (literally) of gear over.

thomask, once we are nearing the completion of the build and are set up on Gambier Island you are more than welcome to drop by as are others that don't mind a boat ride over. It's the only way over. Will play with Diva's here at home before heading across. Just send me a PM anytime if your up this way. We are in the North Shore.

Kenc & Bodhi When I was in my 20s and the Apogee's were available in the 80s they were known for eating amplifiers. My friend who owned Sound Plus steered me away from them because I lacked the funds for the big amplifiers that the Apogees required back then......
Had Maggies III, Acoustat III then ML Aries. From there it was cone speakers, Totem Model 1 the Watt PuppiesV, Maxx II. Recently visited some friends who had a pair of Diva's and Duetta II , after that I just had to have the koolaid again.....

Christoph, down to last two and will let Rich know on Monday.
First is a dark cherry/black two is a blackish deepblue. Both are metallic automotive finishes with a fine metallic finish.

User 211, cannot find any info on these amps, are they still in business ?

iansr, received your pm and will reply there

I don't think so. A friend was thinking about driving to Austria after hearing them to get a pair, but that was about 4 - 5 years ago. Looking around now, the website has gone.

The long wait is over. Have the crates in my garage.
Need to move my Maxx's & Hartsfields out of music room and will post a pic once Diva's are up.
Congrats

Amazing how many Apogee fans are still around
Especially considering that Apogee closed their doors over 20 years ago

I was the first in Italy to buy the first model,DUETTA,and i had Robertson amp and then Krell 100 mono
Then one my friend had Diva and other the Full range with Krell Reference 200 and another had Scintilla with Krell KAS

Big experience with these speakers, some problems, but exciting, then all we chanced with Soundlab and Tolteque electrostatic speaker

I have not had that confirmed as yet--like I stated previous he is a very private person and and when he informs me the Speakers are in house

I will report the findings here--whether Pictures or location can be divulged will be up to him at the time.

He has Ayon 400W KT150 Monos.

BruceD

I was talking to Ayon reps at Munich this year. I had a chat with the sales rep who passed me on to the tech guy.

When I mentioned that the Ayon Orthos II (250 Watt triode, 400 pentode) kept shutting down in triode mode driving my Duettas at way less than 250 Watt output, he showed absolutely no interest or curiosity, and all I could get out of him was a few "yes's" and a smile.

Very, very unimpressed with that to say the least.

The very same amps also shutdown in triode mode driving Divas.

Excellent stuff. Be very interested to know about any deviations from the standard Diva spec e.g. crossovers and components, frame bracing, stands etc whatever you feel at liberty to reveal.:)

I tried the Classe DR3 (not B nor VHC) on my Duetta II's back when and it was a pretty decent match. I used Levinson ML-2's mostly with my Duettas. You might prefer something with a little more grunt than your DR3 for the Divas but it definitely worth trying as you have it in hand.

I've tried preamps and amps from various brands including Rowland, Accuphase, Ayon, Merrill, various Krells, Parasound, Rowan, Audio Research, Air Tight, EAR, custom built class D, Music First, W4S, Denon, Crown, Apart (a pro amp), Behringer, Austria Analogue, Luxman, Graaf and quite a few more.

From vintage to present day, valve and solid state, medium to high power etc.

The best Duetta driver combo I have been able to come up with is a Chinese Cayin tube preamp that beats any other preamp I have tried, together with a Luxman M-800a.

Fyi, the Luxman m900u I had been suggesting to Justin for three years, and is the bottom of my suggestion list (Though the Best value)

And they would still be bottom of yr list even after hearing them in Justin's exact circumstances? While he has promoted them to top of his list.

They're top of his list w the added cherry on cake of best value. If he's got a killer amp and preamp for no money in today's mkt, and a $hit hot spkr that smokes many for a fraction of their cost, and a Lampi that again outperforms, well he's having the last laugh over 95% of audiophiles who've spent multiple multiples over his outlay, for likely worse outcomes.

Yes the other amps he tried weren't good. The Krell wasn't the big ones. Airtight and SETs and push pulls are silly. Now tried the Ayon and heard AR 250 on a diva. All silly. You really need proper SS to get them. Luxman and symphonic line Kraft are excellent and good value. Someone can always pay up for a dagostino momentum if they choose.

Forget lists Ked. And the Dag that Justin likely can't afford. How does the Luxman sound on his Duettas just in it's own right, not whether a 5x pricier amp sounds better? How killer is it? Just as a standalone demo?
