I thought the speech given by Mike Budenholzer was one of the best acceptance speeches I have ever heard. I don't think there was a teleprompter as he spoke for 3-4 minutes without skipping a beat. He was respectful and recognized everyone starting with who he ran against down to the NBA, Milwaukee, his family and where he grew up

A much deserved winer

Magic and Bird on the stage together. What a scene. True greatness. True achievements, no asterisks.

So Klay seems to have committed if the deal says $190M over 5 years and seems they are going to give it to him

From NBA news

Myers to talk future with Durant, Thompson

Free agency doesn't officially open until 6 p.m. on July 30, but the day beforehand, teams can begin scheduling meetings with free agents starting at 6 p.m. The Golden State Warriors have two of the prime free-agent targets of the summer on their roster and won't be wasting time getting a meeting in with them.

Warriors GM Bob Myers told reporters on Monday that the team plans to schedule meetings with forward Kevin Durant and guard Klay Thompson. Per The Mercury News, the Warriors have held to Durant's wishes to not have recruiting tactics, such as putting up billboards in the Bay Area. As for Thompson, The Mercury News reports he is expected to agree to a deal provided it is a five-year, $190 million one the Warriors have said they will offer.

When asked Monday of his level of optimism in keeping both players with Golden State, Myers simply shrugged his shoulders and said, "We'll see."

Coach Steve Kerr recently told ESPN's Nick Friedell that there will be no formal recruiting pitch to either player.

"There's no recruiting," Kerr said. "We're not doing any videos and tours of the city. Basically it's a 'We want you back and we hope you decide to come back and see what happens,' but we're at a different place now," Kerr said. "But any time you're trying to retain your own players, I think the song and dance, the pomp and circumstance is unnecessary and I actually think it's unnecessary even for other players. You just got to do what you got to do, but with our group it's just -- conversation."

Perhaps for the Lakers D League team

Carmelo will need a cane to help him onto the court and a seeing eye dog to tell him where the basket is

I wonder what the next salvo is for the Nets as Kyrie and $141M won't be leading them to the finish line

For me the only interesting that can come out of Kyrie signing with the Nets is to hope D'Angelo Russell signs with the Lakers to be their PG. It never made sense to me that they drafted Ball, traded Russell and finally they traded Ball in the deal for AD

JR just a waive away... into LALA Land. :) I would be a very predictable landing, the GM/player just loves him, even though he didn't know the score in a Finals ending. :D

I truly cant believe that Jeannie feels hiring an over the hill gang of nobodies will complement the King and his Court and bring a title to Lala Land. I wonder if any of them can play 82 games as that number approaches their ages.

What a travesty. They can call themselves the West Coast Cavaliers. The only thing waiting to happen is that Tyrone Lue might just reconsider the coaching job

Lakers have another $20M in cap space to spend as they look for a 3rd and possibly a 4th to complement the King

Hello!!

Jeannie, knock, knock. Anyone home. No one is talking about Kyle Kuzma and making him that 3rd man. He's as good or better than any of the names bantered around today

The thought of Carmelo and/or J R Smith playing for the Lakers is frightening. You have to tell Smith which basket he needs to shoot at and Carmelo answers with , "Basket, what's a basket?"

He'll need a seeing eye dog and a pair of roller skates

I suppose we will know in a few days but if they go in this direction I bet the coaching change will happen sooner than later

Baffling trade out and trade back in, if that happens.

Lakers traded D-Lo for Brook Lopez, who didn't quite jelled with the Lakers. But the silver lining in that trade was Lakers also got the 27th pick from the Nets which turned out to be Kyle Kuzma. Now it seems D-Lo likes to go back to the Lakers as a FA.

And the most incredible thing that can happen is the Vogel gets fired even before he gets to coach the first game. :D Lue in, and Kidd is still waiting for his water cup to be popped and be the head coach. :D

As the dust clears on last season the only thing that smells good going forward is watching the Pels become the team of the future, "now"

Truly the serious injuries to KD and Klay are the biggest news to free agency. I believe Klay will sign a 5 year contract at $195M whereas KD's decision in my mind looms larger than the King's "decision" to take his talents to South Beach

The other team to watch is the Sixers because as good as they were this past year, they do have 2 terrific players who might jump teams this year

As for the Lakers it'll be a team like the singing group The Traveling Wilbury's a totally over the hill gang acting as a complement to King and Davis

I'm shocked they don't feel Kuzma is that 3rd man

Steve, I hear news of Butler going to Houston. Houston Is willing to pay luxury tax it seems.

And I feel Kuzma should be the third man, he outperformed Tatum of the Celtics in the last season, imo.
