Guys, I am a bit confused. Is the new Engine 53 now standard for the GG2? How new is this new engine? The common view is, that this engine is superior to R2R engine, including dual mono R2R, in case of both GA TRP and GG2?

Rob with Lampizator NA confirmed that e53 is now the standard engine in the GG2. e53 is a derivative of the Pacific's e57, both being delta sigma. I first heard of e53 when I was inquiring about the GG2 upgrade in 2/2019. But I don't know if there is a definitive date when the switch was made.

Lampi does not have a date per say as an example fred robs partner has a gg2 I had st my place that used a older sigma called 42 think it did not do dsd as such had a chipless engine for it.
The 53 for me is beyond all past R2r and sigma chips
Not saying others may have there preference as well.

Thank you! Is R2R still available as an option? And a DAC with the new e53 does not use the chipless dsd engine. So it is not only PCM which is different, but DSD as well. Interesting.

@Golum
My grand children in spe were successful and hunted a KR together with the Genalex KT77, excellent medicine for my ears, even out of the box, even more curious what time will bring.

I’m happy for you that you have grand kids in Indian Jones modus operandi;). Now, as a wise grand parent, explain them that in your prime time :p best sounding tube was GEC KT66 and they need to dig that one out, as finding that one will be equal as finding Holy Grail cup :cool:. Happy hunting

Yes I know :rolleyes:, although the KT77 together with the KR sounds so great (more details, 3D mapping, musicality, simply more adult, relaxed). Maybe my grand children in soe should lay back and wait a little bit :cool:

You know how it goes - treasures are rare and there are lots of sharks in the pond chasing the same thing :D

Got them? Hope so...
Another thing - the more we talk about them the more the price will go up (I’m quite sure about this)...

Funny meeting you here! ;)

Im new here to the forum. I just pulled the trigger on my own TRP after spending ten days with it in my home. I hated it giving it back,but I will have my own soon! Super happy!
Very glad to hear you managed to get one! Welcome to the club :)

You should be able to use any of the 5 volt GZ34/GZ37/422A/5AR4/U52/etc rectifiers. Not 4 volt though I don't think.

Yep,def stocking up from that list. Fred did mention some hesitation on the GZ32 though. I dont believe we ever got around to establishing its viability one way or the other.

Im just starting to wrap my brain around the GOTL tube options,and now have to start all over with TRP. o_O
