First of all I don't have one set system that I insert one component for another. My systems are changing daily. The Dacs that I use are Aqua Formula xHD, Rockna Wavedream, Jadis, CEC and Goldmund. I had the MSB Select II for six months but it was prior to the Extreme's arrival.

My point was that since I received the Extreme a few months ago, I never try to pick a certain DAC to make the sound better. Whatever DAC happens to be connected is what I leave connected and they ALL make great music when running Roon Core on the Extreme/Intona isolator and Ultimate usb interface. I use usb from the Extreme through the Intona to connect to all of the DACs. I've not connected the Extreme with anything other than USB.

All of the DACs mentioned are <$20K. With changing systems (speakers, preamps/amplifiers, vinyl, Roon, R2R) on a daily (sometimes hourly) basis I am not one to give an opinion on this vs. that in a single system stable enviroment, other than what I have said - via the Extreme I never change a DAC anymore if one is already connected to the Extreme, I just hit play.

Thank you !
It sounds Extreme is soch a big improvement that everything sounds great.
It is again supporting the old fact „ source is the most important”
I think after great CD transports era we forgot how important the source is.
Now we are back !

With all the work from Emile to eliminate clocking related induced jitter passing on to the dac and optimisations would be the very likely reason why whichever dac being used has overall much less of their own jitter profile or signature allowing them to produce the same naturalness, timing accuracy, clarity and lack of the commonly referred to as digititist or glare to be absent.

This alone leaves much less of a sonic fingerprint of their own and allowing them to do there same role in converting bits just as accurately without much induced jitter to stifle their performance.

Of course many other factors still exist, such as cables and individual dacs tonal signature will still result in different tonal signatures between dacs, leaving differences between different dacs of a similar level to make as little difference as changing out powercords of the same similar performance levels resulting in more of just a different presentation sounding just as great.

I believe the impact of top tier transports no longer has competitive advantages over a streamer/server which has so many more parimeters and variables than can be manipulated to acheive and surpass sonically what a cd transport can offer.

Short of a fixed design implementation, noting much can be tweaked besides isolation and associated cabling.

For a server, the many other perimeters effect will be tenfold compared to just tweaking it with isolation and cables.

I have Denafrips Venus.

This DAC price is $ 2,880.

I'll show you to compare $ 2,880 to Trinity DAC $ 60,000

SGM Extreme makes two DAC's quality difference be reduced.

I made "Best DAC comparison test" in WBF DAC forum.

Trinity DAC rating : 90%

Venus rating : 48%

But this big difference is reduced by SGM Extreme.

Please check it~!!

So what is the transport you use when it is 90%v 48% ?
Also what are the numbers when Extreme is the transport ?

Trinity DAC is highly much better than Venus.

In case of installing SGM Extreme, you have to decide the rating figure by yourself.

That's why I posted these movies.

My result is...

If Trinity is 100%, Venus is 58 ~ 60% I think.

So in short.
Once you install Extreme everything is better
But the lower cost DAC benefits more then very expensive DAC.

I understand there is difference when Venus is used. Ok.

Why in case of the Trinity there is 100% everywere ?
You see no SQ difference when you use Trinity with U1 v custom server v evo v extreme ?

When I did comparison test, I had only Trinity DAC as a reference.

Because compared DAC is only Trinity, I have no idea.

Trinity DAC is enough as xxx high end DAC.

If you want to compare Venus to Formula xHD, I can post comparison movies.

I want to show you SGM Extreme makes cheap DAC be much more better.

So much better Trinity DAC is used for you to can feel easily.

Use Trinity dac with
1. Lumin
2. Server
3.evo
4.extreme

For each enter the %

We wanted to see difference when different servers are used.
Look what you entered before. For each server wit trinity you entered 100%.
So it looks like there is NO difference.
We are all sure there IS a difference.

Few Korean audiophiles have over $ 50,000 turntables.

So we don't know real vinyl sound.

SGM Extreme is only one music server that is close to vinyl sound oversea audiophiles said.

I just think SGM Extreme sound is much better than other music servers.

Clearly vinyl sound is better than SGM Extreme I think.

But I can tell you the most cost-effective source device is SGM Extreme.

The audiophiles who have Great Turntables like AS-2000 are also highly satisfied with Extreme.

I'm sure that.

An interesting comment on server sound coming from Raphael Pasche, designer of CH Precision (July 2018)
It is the main reason I ordered an Extreme - I do not want to wait such time to enjoy streaming!

https://www.hifi-advice.com/blog/specials/an-interview-with-raphael-pasche-of-ch-precision/

HFA: Do you know of a reason why Music Servers also differ in sound?

Raphael: I think the collective answer from the entire industry is that we don’t really know. Nobody knows exactly. Think back to when CD was first introduced. Audiophiles agreed that it didn’t sound very good in the beginning, but look how far we came and it’s pretty decent now. I think we will see a similar process for servers and streamers. There are just a few more things that collectively we have to do. We just have to eliminate layer for layer, what is causing the problem, and this takes time. We provide the receiver, the Renderer, and people can do what they like on the source side. We do get a lot of feedback from our customers, which gives us clues.

Congrats on ordering the Extreme!

i will be watching for your comments with interest.

reading Emile's comments about servers and his investigations, it's clear that realizing what you don't know, keeps your mind in the right place to create. that and having very high expectations. he is traveling over new territory.
