This thread doesn't seem very active, and since my last post, I upgraded to a Prime Signature with an Ortofon Cadenza Bronze cartridge. The improvement over my Scout/2M Black is astounding. Deeper bass, more details (with less surface noise), deeper/wider soundstage--you name it!

I no longer have the Musical Surroundings Nova II since my McIntosh MA 9000 has a great built-in phono stage.

I think the Prime Signature might well be my last turntable. I've been having fun with Analog Magik the last couple of weekends dialing everything in.

Mine too. Oh, I suppose one of the better Transrotor TTs would be nice, but there are diminishing returns. At some point I'll need to replace the cartridge, but that's about it.

(Sure, this would be heavenly... but at $150,000...I don't think so!)

Here is my Prime Signature. I ditched the stock feet in favor of edenSound TerraCones and replaced the weight with the Stillpoints LPI.

That is a Merrill Williams periphery ring. I sanded off the blah blah black powder coat and hit it with 3 coats of automotive primer and 3 coats of automotive paint.
Nice. Hadn't heard of that one before.

I noticed that you have addressed some of the design issues of this turntable in a very clever and cosmetically appealing way. Nice!

good!!!! actually its half, you are missing the rings under the VTA tower.
i have plenty of different thicknesses. Measure the clearance underneath the VTA tower and let me know. Pm your address and I will send you a couple.

you were lucky to get Phoenix Eagle and roadrunner too.

I have tried putting rings under the tower but I always end up removing them. Thanks for the offer though.

I bought the Phoenix Engineering Eagle PSU and Roadrunner right before he went out of business. :)

Will the Condor work with the Prime Signature?

only if you will replace your current AC Harst synchronous motor with the SOTA 24 V.

Bill Carlin (@Phoenix Engineering ) told me that it has more torque and is way more silent than the VPI one. However you will need the new SOTA pulley and the new belt too.
i understand that the modification can be done by SOTA

That's good to know in case something happens to my current motor.

Bill Carlin (Phoenix Engineering) has just made for me a killer rim drive. It’s equipped with two Anaheim Automation BLDC Motors, precision metal pulleys and Class AB amplifier.
the vibration measurements are impressively low.
the drive is completely noiseless and smooth, with direct impact on the sound quality.

Vienna,
Any chance you could post a photo of your new drive unit?
Thanks,
