Interruption to this thread. I kind of read through it once . Trying again but my phone won't jump to a page so I keep getting stuck at page 1.

Anyhow. Is anyone driving Pure Audio Project Trio 15 with horn. How few watts can you get away with. Is there a optimum amount of power they want to be beautiful and have some headroom.

This is fine. It is a set amp horns thread so he is an owner and can discuss his options

I’ve been running 48 watts with the LM805ia in a room that 5m x7.5m and I can play anything from large scale classical to electronic dance and hit the right db with a nice bit to spare on the meters. Mostly with jazz and smaller scale music the meters are travelling at the lower end of the meters. Haven’t tried anything lower in wattage because am just really happy with the match I have.

How do you expose the TV? Where are the glides?
The big panel in the middle slides to the left on a track hidden under the centre rail.

Thanks, I should have known someone would ask and keep reading. I have a large 60 x 48 inch piece of art hanging on steel rods that are attached to a sliding door track across my ceiling. Hides my TV quite well. I haven't figured out how to shrink a photo yet. One day I will and be able to post.

I'm running KT77 pentode push pull. I probably would not be looking to change but my amps hum 120 hertz. Way too loud. Easy to hear at the listening chair. I have thought about LM. I would love to have monoblocks. I have pretty decent cables and I'm setup for mono. Was thinking maybe this is the time to power down and see what all the hype is about. Do you think they would work with say 2.5 watts from a Decware amp? Or do you think they need more. I have also had a couple email with Thomas Mayer about his 6CB5A. I gather 8 watts is a lot more than 2.5 watts. But I know so little about Mayer and what you really get. Decware amps seem to sell quick with not to much loss if its just not the correct fit.

Have you tried a new matched pair of tubes? My push pull hummed bad at 120hz with ”new” tubes. But one had been run a bit more than the other, apparently creating a mis-match. Another matched set eliminated the 120 hz.

Owe yes. El34, KT77, KT88. 6SN7, 12AX7. Tried everyrhing I can think of. My tech tried a variety of fixes too. Nothing worked. What I have not tried is a new steel case instead of a bread box, reconfiguring the layout and shortening a 14" long cables on the choke and a 5" or 6" long cables off the input. But I still don't have much hope.

KRex I haven’t tried but given 2 x 15 inch woofers I’d not be throwing single digits at the pap trios.

Given what’s going on across the planet I’m unlikely to be doing any auditions in the short term as I usually only do that if I’m actively in the market to buy so can’t say for sure... but I just think it depends on your room, music and listening level habits but I’d think even early 20 watts would be as low as I’d go.

I have toyed with the idea of biamping and using the lm805ia on the woofers and a 45 tube amp on the wide range CD horn. The way the crossover can be easily modded it should be fairly do-able.

96 db Brad. I play a lot of large scale music as well as smaller and have a largish space so for me reasonable headroom is important.

I’m planning on (post Covid if the world rights itself) putting together a horn OB with supravox woofers and BMS co-axial CD aimed at an early 100+ db efficiency so then will consider PX25 or 45 as full range amp option.
