Getting back to the speakers, may I ask how you are finding their resolution so far compared to your Stenheim Reference? Also, what is the bass performance like with Eric and please post more videos when you have time? Many thanks

The Stenheims are awesome. I could have lived with them for ever. I would say that they are relatively neutral speakers compared to the Goebels. Well may be leaner would be a more appropriate term? The interesting thing about the Stenheims is that you can muck around with the externa crossover and boost the midrange and bass to your liking. I like quite a thick sound, high resolution is not my priority. The Goebels seem to bring the same resolution but with more body, if that makes sense, which to me is perfect. Naturally the equipment you pair it with will make a difference. The Robert Koda is quite a warm sounding amp I believe and so the pairing with the Engstroms may be a better balance although i have a soft spot for the Kaguras too.

I would say that both are world class speakers and it's more of a personal taste.

Great insights! Do they have similar bass slam?

It would difficult to tell as I never had the Orpheus solid state monoblocks on the Goebels. What I can tell you is that there is no lack of bass slam from a 70Lb push pull tube amp compared to a 2000 watt solid state amp. I did have the kaguras on the Stenheims for a couple of days and the bass was not as powerful as with the Orpheus monoblocks.

Thank you...very understandable. I was just 'guessing' your current GNs might have the edge in slam power in comparison with the Stenheims, but I understand proper a true side by side could truly determine that.

Very helpful feedback indeed. Many thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and for recording and posting the additional videos. Looking forward to further videos and your thoughts. Enjoy!

Fantastic...thanks for continuing to post these. A lot of fun. From an audioclip and all the caveats that apply, the Engstroms have more 'conviction' to my ear...more incisive, decisive. The artistry, phrasing and notes seem tighter which is how I imagine an artist of the caliber of Jacquelien du Pre would have performed.

Tang on his thread mentioned that he liked this Du pre Barenboim Elgar cello on YouTube but could not find a good LP for this. What everyone is listening to here is one streamed by extreme from tidal into the Lampi

Yeah, i don't know. Both of them have 12 inch woofers and the Stenheim even has 12 inches on the back panel too.

Yes, as Kedar said this is just Tidal. I have the LP but it is not the first pressing, I think it is from around the late 70s. I might try and record that to compare.

The du pre performance with barbirolli is a good LP.

Thank you for posting these, and congratulations on your new speakers.

To me, the second video sound more alive, more natural, more real. Du Pre's emotions come through better. More drama and feeling.
