Why not try a competitors top line cabling, the MasterBuilt. I've heard their best on the Ultra 11 and 9 Von Schweikert speakers. Maybe they are great for Magico as well.
I'm sure a LOT of cables would sound great with the M9s and Pilium. Alon tried SEVERAL different brands of cables over the last 3-4 months prior to settling on the current set up with VYDA.

We will use VYDA and TelluriumQ at a lower price point if required and are very content with the sound. No desire to try other cables at this point.

Once we receive our M9s if a cable manufacturer would like to supply two sets of sp. cables, four or five sets of XLRs and about fifteen power cords in total then we would be fine to try them for them.

Regardless we will still be using either VYDA or TelluriumQ at both of our Brooklyn and DFW M9/Pilium installations as again, we are very content with these electronics/speakers/cable combinations. We only believe in full cable looms from the same cable manufacturer when possible, especially at this level.

Not too stray too far off topic, but how do the Pilium electronics differ/compare with CH? I know that Alon was using CH for a while (and maybe still is?) and since I am familiar with them (and Magicos) and not Pilium I am curious.

Hi Ian,

I'm not going make a comparison as CH, Soulution, Boulder AND Pilium all offer great products. They all sound a bit different to me and a lot of times it depends on the sources/rooms/full systems AND different ears/prefernces.

All I can tell you is that Alon IS using Pilium at this time with the M9s in his showroom. We will also be using Pilium with our M9 set ups in DFW and Brooklyn in a few months.

My personal appraisal of Pilium electronics is that they are HIGH resolution, but very liquid at the same time. VERY strong dynamics, but with texture. When I listen I don't sense the speakers or the electronics being involved I just hear what is on the recording via the big 3D soundstage.

The amps are large and heavy. They have huge heat sinks and run cool to the touch even after being on for 24 hours.

As with Rhapsody's other product offerings, Pilium will be available to audition at eight locations in the near future. Currently you can audition Pilium products at Magico with the M9s, Rhapsody in Manhattan as well as as the RLRs in Palm Desert, Chicago and soon at the Portland, DFW, West Palm Beach and Miami RLRs.

Ian, The comment I would add is that I've always felt the need to have tube amps in my space, both for myself and for tube lovers when they came in for a demo.

Since I discovered Pilium I never even ask if they like tubes or SS. I just say "listen to this". No one ever asks after listening about what a speaker they are hearing would sound like with tubes. It just sounds like music. I won't say it (but I guess that I am) Pilium amps for me personally have transcended all other SS that I have ever heard AND all tube electronics as well. That's just me, not saying others would agree, nor should they, but a lot of people that have heard Pilium have agreed with my take on it.

I have taken in I think five pairs of tube amps on trade for Pilium in the last year as well as several big time SS amps.

I strongly suggest you find an opportunity to have a listen then you will understand. I’d say they are same level as other highend brand, just different character.

The superb quality of the Photo Files shown here tempted Moi to check on the Camera used and as I expected --
it is the Phase one iQ4 150 MP Medium format model from Denmark. The top of the class MF Digital setup and most powerful
combo available today.
I've shot with this and as a Professional Retoucher I can say the files are out of this world on all parameters.
Kudos on the Photography presented here.

Where is this dfw location for the m9?
The DFW RLR will be located just north of Denton, TX. The M9/Pilium/Taiko/VYGER/VYDA system at the DFW location is currently scheduled to be delivered and installed in the September/October 2021 timeframe

In the next 2-3 months the Rhapsody.Audio site will be updated. At that time detailed contact information for all of the RLRs will be available from the Rhapsody.Audio site.

.There will also be pic's of each RLR room and information regarding the equipment/systems that are available at each RLR which will then allow interested parties to schedule by appointment demonstrations.

Currently all of the RLRs are being assembled and a LARGE amount of equipment is being shipped into each of the RLR locations. Stay tuned.

We have the Dallas FT Worth Audiophile Club. There’s about 40 of us, I am sure many would love to hear the M9.

Hi Joey,

That would be great. We can arrange that later this year after we get set up. Keep in touch. Just check out Rhapsody.Audio in about 3 months from now. You will then be able to get in touch the the owner of the DFW/RLR and set something up.

So is there really only one tiny midrange driver on the M9 or are the top two woofers carrying the lower mids?

Hi Ian,
The M9 is a four way speaker, which also has the MXO ALL ANALOG crossover between the pre and the amplification to precisely deliver frequencies to the respective drivers.

The midrange driver which is the same size as your M-Pro midrange driver is not "so tiny":) The top two drivers cover the lower mids along with the midrange driver.

Thanks, I think it's great if the lower midrange is being reinforced by the top two drivers.

I say 'tiny' because it always amazes me that most of the music (which is in the midrange) comes through one 5" woofer.

In the M9, that mid-range is 6”.
