My point was each one has a different pace and tempo and that is always part of what we use to judge what we think of the performance. So track times will always be different for all pieces across conductors. So not sure what we get buy looking at times (they will be different) as compared to listening.

For example it is very clear this Beethoven 9 from Barbican with Simon rattle I had was extremely fast and I did not like that tempo, but looking at time won't help anything. Bohm is the slowest but not necessarily the best (though Placido Domingo is very good)

Lief's system tone is most like this video.

This version is quite good, as is the SQ... the best so far, but I still like the Fritz Reiner and the Chicago symphony as it’s more engaging and fluid.. finding them all quite enjoyable Actually..

This morning I revisited this album, Schubert For Two by Gil Shaham and Goran Sollscher. It is Guitar&Violin two discs album from DG. If you don't mind a digital recording, this is just great music. Classical in a contemporary chill slow life style. You don't even need to be into classical to let yourself flow along this music. Highly recommended.

Yes, it is great music. But to me the violin sounds a bit glossy synthetic and I am not talking reverb. I just don't know how to put into words. I have other great records on violin. Play one after another the difference is detectable. Knit picking.

I’m basing my opinion on your recording of a recording being played back..
That‘s high praise.. I’m sure in person those differences are more easily detectable. Sounds great !

Have been working from home for over a month. Just came to the office to pick up something today. So I turned on my system to see if it is still working. I also saw this album, Monty Alexander So What? in the USPS package on my table. It is a solo piano recorded in Geneva. There are many well known tunes in the album. Excellent sound. Incredible presence. You don't need tape to feel the piano is playing right in front of you with this vinyl. His moaning is a bit distracting though. Would be ok if the moan is from a female pianist. Black and Blue Record. 33.148 WE 341

I have been virus-free :).

Like in Batman begins, after being laughed at he had disappeared to get trained. He is now back after intense training. Ears of a bat.
Who laughed at Tango ? We laughed with him, his humor is only topped by his excellent ears ! :)

Part of enjoying this hobby for me is having different equipment to rotate around to change the flavor of the sound. For me the more toys, the more fun.

@Tango do you have a system at home?
No I don't. At one point I was thinking to construct a home system that pretty much resemble PeterA's current system but with the EMT 927 as a source. It never happened because I have two small children and a wife who constantly want my time when I am home. Not possible to have any listening time. Office is my only escape.

Although I built myself several large listening rooms at home when my sons were small, both inside the house and then a bigger room in a dedicated building in the garden, the reality of life with young children was that I never really used them, or certainly not for more than a few hours. Now with both boys at uni I enjoy listening in our living room which is much more sociable even though compromises have to be made that I wouldn't have tolerated previously.

Mr. Mike Valentine of Chasing The Dragon Audiophile Recording was very kind to send me a box of his records and tape. I have been a fan of his label from the start. His Vivaldi in Venice is among top three albums that I like to play. He asked me if I would like to hear his soon to release new box set of Bach Cello Suites that took him a long time to complete. I said yes. What I found in the parcel were some records I already have, this new Bach boxset and Quentin Collins All Star Quintet's "a day in the life." My post here is about "a day in a life." It is jazz with Mr.Collins playing Trumpet / Flugelhorn. The music is so very entertaining although I am not a big fan of jazz without vocal. Listening while typing ipad this very moment, the music is making me move my body, nod my head and foot tapping along. If the record maker's objective is to make listener enjoy music. I think he achieves that with me. Even if the quality of this recording sucks, I would probably enjoy the music still. But the recording quality of this record doesn't suck indeed excellent. So this is a double whammy. A Trifecta actually because I did not have to pay for it :p. In term of sound, the record runs quiet. The presence of musicians is as great as Monty Alexander album that I posted earlier. But the tone of this record is a tad warmer than Monty. Piano has less leading edge. I would prefer to hear a little more ambient cue of the recording studio. The musical engagement can easily come when the performance is good and the sound of recording is good too. A record that I would listen to the whole album. Highly recommended.
