That would mean you like streaMing.
It depend on what you mean by streaming. I prefer to play music from my own collection of recordings which is stored locally. I am not a big fan of streaming from Internet sites except for exploration.

Are your preferences due to sound quality or just a personnel attitude?

I prefer spinning a CD to streaming, but just for the ritual - going through the CD shelves, handling the box, the disk and seeing the drawer of the Vivaldi closing. Surely the handling pleasure was greater when I had the Forsell cookie maker ... ;)

I have never understood why anyone gets any pleasure from handling some form of recorded music. Personally, I prefer listening to the music.

Strangely enough, some of us love handling books, turning pages etc...
Some of us absolutely hate Kindle for books, tablets for music.

The MSB transports were using Oppo mechanism and their respective platforms. Based on Oppo's BDP line of Universal players.

They (MSB)could have pursued another OEM for transports (Denon) ala PS Audio whose prior transport was based on the Oppo.

For example, current production (PS Audio transport) is using the Denon.

MSB clearly wants to focus on streaming/file playback.

Almost always both. I don't care for the user experience with streaming although the sound quality is generally OK. OTOH, playing from my own sources lets me customize the UI and also accommodates higher sound quality (resolution, MCH, reliability). Compared to physical media, the user experience is inordinately in favor of file playback although I tend to prefer the sound, as well.

This seems to be a more stable business in modern times. There is no doubt that there is an enormous untapped market potential for streaming, while, over time, CDs will be supported by an increasingly smaller number of enthusiasts.

Nevertheless, what I've always enjoyed in Audio, is how diversified it can be. It has a lot of dimensions where this example could serve as a reference:

More like MSB don't want to be manufacturing a dead format anymore - CD'S :p

Just like Merc built around that time. Absolutely no difference in the laser function?

here’s an example of a Sony laser about 30 years old that measures as good as new

this tech has also commented on Sony CD players salvaged from radio stations , 30 year old lasers, that still have 80% capacity left. After being used all day 7 days a week. Good for another hundred years

meanwhile , I cant find a 4k UHD player that can reliably play movies without freezing Lol

I get your point. My statement has a wider application and is not limited to this particular product.

However, well-made vintage turntables - that is a very good starting point.
