So I still like the 7n7's tone and density, but I need to pull back on my early enthusiasm. Speed and Dynamics took too much of a hit to be a long term tube for me relative to the uk design Psvanes...

I'm glad you approved of what you hear there!! Which room was it, if you recall? We actually had a few Baltic 3s at CAF (7 or 8 Lampi exhibits total)

What are thoughts between Baltic 3 and Atlantic TRP? Priced very similar at least against SE TRP w/o volume control. Anyone compare performance?

I have been rolling 6SN7 variants now that my B3 has some hours on it. My B3 came with a switch to choose 6v or 12v for the "6SN7" heaters. I have moved from a Tungsol 12SN7 (TSRP) to the 14N7(12v 7N7) and currently to a 5962. The 5962 sounds much better in my system. It seems to be about synergy with the other tubes in the DAC. The improvement was not subtle.

I make a strong recommendation for the Final Touch Audio Elara for the LampizatOr DACs. There is a strong synergy between this line of cables and Lampi gear.

i use Audio Sensibility 'Statement' 1m cable $406 with complete satisfaction.
This is a system and I did not play with cables before purchase.

After several decades of always going for "bang for the buck" equipment" I decided that this is going to be my "end game" system. To that end I ordered up a power cable and a pair of interconnects from Final Touch Audio. A month or so ago I bought their USB cable and have been very, very happy with it.

To me it makes sense to buy wire made from a company that is often used to demo the same Lampi and LTA equipment that I own. This is way more than I have ever spent for wire by several orders of magnitude. For now I am keeping my Duelund speaker cables as my Spatial Audio X5 speakers use the same wire for their internal connections.

So glad you're loving the FTA cables! They are indeed a perfect mate to the Lampi equipment (LTA as well)! When budget recovers a bit the LAN cable (Metis) is definitely worth of investigation as well, but it sounds like you're in a great space at the moment so enjoy for now!

After a week I can say that these were well worth it. Great detail. Realistic and balanced tonality.
Does FTA make speaker cables? I do not see them mentioned...

I just read the Lampi Baltic 3 review in this month's TAS by a writer with whom I was not familiar (Stephen Scharf). What a beautiful review and a fine piece of audio writing. This thing is so inexpensive it begs the question as to why anyone would own any other DAC in that price range (6K) if not considerably higher? Of course since there is a somewhat "novel" use of tubes that is not dissimilar to Lampi's soon to be released SOA assault, it comes as no surprise that the Baltic seems to be the "poor man's" Horizon DAC (which is surely unfair to both pieces even though it makes a point).

Thank you, Marty, I'm glad you enjoyed the review. It was pretty easy to write as I was very, very impressed with many attributes of the Baltic 3. To be honest, as good as the $39K Linn Klimax DSM/3 streamer/DAC is, I think the Baltic 3 is as good as the Linn's DAC section. With respect to the Horizon, I can tell that that SOA assault was based on much of the very long and very hard work that was done by Lukasz and his team in developing the Baltic 3. Part of the reason they put so much hard work and effort into the Baltic is they made new discoveries, and gained new insights with respect to design, components, parts, circuit topologies, etc. that they could take those learnings and cascade them "up" into the higher-specification product lines. That's why the Baltic 3 is so good, and why the Horizon will be so good; it extends and expands on the fertile ground that was sowed by the Baltic 3. This is, in fact, the "natural process" that is the outcome of very solid, well-founded and well-executed research and development.

The learnings cascade from HOW the design was executed to WHAT was learned which drives deep understanding of WHY those are learnings are important and in what way, which then provides a CONTEXT of UNDERSTANDING that drives INSIGHTS about ACTIONS you need to take to achieve your AIMS.

Funny how that works....

Usually, findings rather trickle down from SOTA to the lower, more modest models, while here it looks like it went the other way around

Luckily, a very good friend of mine already ordered the Horizon, so I get to hear the Horizon rather soon-ish.
I fear though, that I will fall in love with what I will hear
