It's a great sounding phono. And, so in effect, we're comparing two SUTs - one made or OEM'd by EMT and one vintage WE.
Indeed - that EMT phono is imho one of the best of the best.

I bought this record because I heard it sounds great on the video Bonzo posted from a non modern system with DST cart and Denon direct drive. I do like the vocal tone from this video very much. It might not be the tone you like cause it sounds different from the tone of your system.
The SME cable is always in my system. I have one set connect from WE SUT to 3012R and one set from WE SUT to mm input of my phono. When I don't use WE SUT, the sme phono cable is also connected direct from arm to phono. The Vyger phono cable was already in the box when I tested the WE SUT. My interconnects are Kuro. Speaker cables I am using are also Kuro. I do have the speaker cables you are using too.
Thank you Tang. I appreciate the added information. I just can't figure out the VPN thing to watch those videos unfortunately, so I have given up trying. Good luck with the future experiments with SUT. I have not gone down that road yet but may someday. Everything is still quite new here. I use an external SUT with two NOS SME phono cables to connect my second MC to the MM input. This SUT matches the internal one in my phono. Someday I might venture into the land of alternatives, who knows?
Suffice to say yours sounds quite different from the other videos (do you hear Tangs?) They are mor in the direction of Tang’s sound but not as good as Tang’s, IMO.
+1 and +1 ... Tang's sound remains the best sound I've heard on youtube videos.
Don't know if I would go that far but they were the best of that recent test with the Schubert Lieder recording.
I would. Over the years, his is the only system I've heard in videos which made me want to hear the system in person. I'm not even normally drawn to horns and tube amps, either.

No it doesn't. And there are 5 videos, not 2. That said this can easily be verified by taking the same video with different phones
Btw, speaking of iphone models, the videos that I take are with 8+, and that clearly has a lesser mic than the later ones, like 11, pro, Xpro, and all those variants. I will change in May and retake a couple to show the difference.
I am obsessed with analog audio. There is a charm to it. It is not only the sound but more for me a search, an exploration, a learning, an understanding, a not knowing enough and want to know from my own hands, my own ears. My focus is still on vinyl front. Recently, I had an opportunity to buy three cartridges. Two are very rare. One is super rare. The unobtainium people say. It actually took someone to pass away to pass on two of the three carts to me. The two carts are Neumann DST and Westrex 10A. Most enthusiasts know and may have heard the famous Neumann DST. It is a great great sounding cart. Before buying I listened original Neumann DST vs DST15 which is a modern day DST made by a Korean expert in Germany who really know how to repair Neumann. Without knowing which was which I chose the original. The new one sounded great but more like a modern cart that has a very open revealing sound. The vintage DST sounds lively open with such remarkable mid range and inner resolution that make voice and instrument timbre so believable. EE is to the roof. What surprised me was how the vintage Neumann DST sounded full range while having a fq response of something like 30-15,000 hz. But extensive listening with diverse music types will likely show me its limitation in some way.
The other cart is Westrex 10A. This cartridge is said to be the first made stereo phonic cartridge. They were all prototypes that never made for commercial production. In Japan there were no more than 5 but now no more than 4 because one is coming to me. I never heard it. I asked ddk if he has heard he said no. It was privately offered to me and Mr.T (another Thai who bought ddk's tt). To my knowledge people who own this cart listen to it not keeping for collecting sake. They all have the Neumann on their arm. From a video the sound is very lively fast transparent unlike other highly sought after SPU made in that era. The Japanese who passed this cart on to me said it made the Ortofon sound like an amateur. I am thinking suuure you are selling me at this price. But the guy was the real deal in vintage. Mr.T has something like three DST's and two DST62's. Most came from this person. To be in this niche mkt you don't say thing that ruins your reputation. Anyway it is another rare item I would like to own and gain experience from.

Wow nice cartridge collection you have, Tang. Have you tried either of these into the juicy WE SUT? Would like to hear some recordings of these.
The juicy WE SUT Silver Can already went back to the vintage workshop. To be honest I like cartridge playing straight to my phono more. The SUT is just for me to utilize the mm input and give a different version of believability. The WE is the best SUT I had experienced so far (with the vdh). It triggered me to think more of how copper influence sound. I even pulled out ddk's copper speaker wire and replaced my silver gold cable just to study the similarity in sound if any as when I used the old copper WE SUT. I really like this part of questioning, learning and exploring. Rambling for so long here is my Neumann through WE SUT but in the system at the workshop that I like to go explore things these days. You will be hearing the system though Bill not just the cart. Only when you compare it with other carts that you will know how better it is
