Just received the latest Mosaic compilation box set of Bobby Hutcherson’s Blue Note recordings. As always from Mosaic, the digital remastering of these analog recordings is top notch. Of equal importance is the beautiful full size booklet of liner notes with classic black and white photographs of the performers. Brilliant package over all that will be on my playlist for years to come.

In 1957, two jazz greats, John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk, came together for a brief period playing at New York’s Five Spot Cafe. This wonderful album captures that magical moment that alas was short lived as the two didn’t work together again.

Super exciting hardbop from 1987 with two legendary trumpeters, Freddie Hubbard and Woody Shaw; great band. Incredibly focused, often fast playing. Keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Yeah can't beat Coltrane on vinyl, I think I just found my favourite digital tho...

Most of these are poorly recorded live performances, reissued by a dodgy label with poor quality. "Walkin'", for example, is ripped off this video:

Another golden oldie from the legendary Gerry Mulligan quartet. You can’t sit in your listening chair while listening to this. You’ll be bouncing all over your house swaying to “Piano Train”.
