    Ikeda Cartridges esp 9Gss

Thank you. I'm thinking an Ikeda 407 would go nicely with it?

    Sme 3012 R

I know I know it but I never know what is dodgy. Seems to be an inordinate amount of Russian origin stuff for some reason?

No I don’t need NOS at all. Anything in good nick would work for me. Might be time to give it a go...

Thoress Phono Enhancer vs. Aesthetix IO Signature

Straight from the horses's mouth. Gain on Thoress is 70db and not adjustable. Should be enough imho. Reinhard also sent me a few links. He really is amazingly responsive. Kudos. He strongly believed that matching to a tube preamp is preferable to SS.

Thoress Phono Enhancer vs. Aesthetix IO Signature

Thanks Tang. I do not like to muck around too much with my phono. Just set and forget otherwise there is no time for listening but i see your point about not enough gain. I'm not sure i want to go down the route of having SUTs littered all over the place unless it really is called for (e.g...

Thoress Phono Enhancer vs. Aesthetix IO Signature

Right now I have a Ben LP-S, Ortofon Anna and Ikeda 9Gss. Could you elaborate about the aspects that might cause issues? I would expect other Lomc cartridges to be added later. Thanks

That sounds like a pretty strong endorsement Mike!

Krelles system with SMT room treatment!

I got some prices from Matts recently for the transparent V wings (145cm) (700 euros), MDf flower diffusers (500E) and plastic flower diffusers (240E).

Thoress Phono Enhancer vs. Aesthetix IO Signature

My photo was sent to me today by Reinhard. I guess it's okay anyway if it can be added back.

Thoress Phono Enhancer vs. Aesthetix IO Signature

So my question is, would this be an upgrade from an AR ref 2? How about ref 10?

Thoress Phono Enhancer vs. Aesthetix IO Signature

Good to know. From pictures without anything else it always looks like a small PSU sized unit to me.

Thoress Phono Enhancer vs. Aesthetix IO Signature

Shane, may be the ground screw is super long?:p

Thoress Phono Enhancer vs. Aesthetix IO Signature

The separation of the rca plugs worries me a little. They seem on the picture to be very close set indeed. Would this prohibit some of the fatter cables?

Thoress Phono Enhancer vs. Aesthetix IO Signature

I am only now finding out about the Thoress phono enhancer as I look for a further or new phono as 3 inputs would exceed my AR Ref 2. At 9300 euros and 6 inputs it would seem to be a veritable bargain and I'm surprised more don't use it unless it has shortcomings that I have not read about...

    Ikeda Cartridges esp 9Gss

I saw a nice Ikeda 9Gss today which seems to be their top of line cartridge. Can anyone shed some light on their cartridges and what sort of tone arm would be suitable (apart from their own of course). Cheers Howie

    My Sonic Lab

I had a chat with my SL dealer today. He said you really need to use the SL SUT due to the super low impedance (around 1 ohm). Too many people hope that their phono amps can cope but they don’t get the full effect of the cartridge without the SUT.

HSE Audio Master Reference Phono Preamp 7

Unfortunately not. A bit rich for my blood and I don’t know the dealer well enough yet.......;) I would love to try an EMT though.

HSE Audio Master Reference Phono Preamp 7

Interesting. The HSE is almost double the price of the EMT and about the same as a CH set of 2 P1 + 2X1.

HSE Audio Master Reference Phono Preamp 7

It was that display that piqued my interest. 82Db is a lot of gain available for low output MC. Wondering how it sounds compared to the EMT.
