A pictures of the Nagra Classic PSU to My Nagra Tube DAC. Together with the C.E.C. TLO 3.0 the dac makes absolutly world class sound spinning CD.
My computer rig with NAS and Tidal is equally good but a little difference.A few high res files, but not everyone, has an even higher SQ.
I recommend the cd Nameless by Dominique Fils-Aime
Listen to the song Birds. Via the C.E .C transport and Tube Dac I use the old qliche: She is in the room singing for you, A somewhat spooky feeling.
I also got a heavily tweaked Spotify playback system. Even on Spotify she is there!
I have Focal Grande Utopia EM about 5 years now. Me and My audiophile friends couldn’t understand the enormous buzz about Magico speakers in U S A when they appears on shows here I Europe. The always sounds underwhelming and no comparison to my Focal.
For the first time on recent Stockholm Hifi...
The CD that mesmerized my tube/vinyl friends was Reference Recordings
RR 136 Saint-Saens Introduction and Rondo capriccioso.
Very well recorded and one of the most beautiful classic pieces I know!
(it also contains the famous organ symphony)
I recently had a visit by the man who built my Sarabande amp - Lennart of LennArts labs.
He praised the sound of my new Nagra tube dac ( see another tread by me on this dac)
He told me that Sarabande is hard wire with about 500 soldering points,
The volume control alone is 55 soldering points...
So far six of my Audiophile friends have listen to the new dac. They all new my setup inside out. Three of them has developed a new tube amp and one of them will starts manufacturing it ( the prototype sounds very well)
Anyhow they all agreed that the new Dac was a major step up in sound quality...
If you got the possibility go for the full upgrade
It’s hard to describe but everything is better even the flowing organic sound that made the HD dac equal the sound of a good vinyl rig.
I suppose dac x is even better but at the moment I can’t imagine how,
I don’t think there are any to...
After a long burn in period i finally could give the new dac a seriously listening.
And wow it was not a small improvement over the already good HD dac.
Everything got better.
Microdetails not heard before pop up. Things buried in the mix now could be here clearly.
The soundstage expand in...
because I got a very favorable offer on the private market for my old dac and had to accept and sell very quick. That quick sell made the new buy possible.
I trust nagra's reputation for excellent products so I was sure the new would be better. Question how much better.
I have had the Nagra HD with PSU now for a long time and was very pleased with it. Fantastic sound both with C.E.C TLO 3.0 transport and with
computer Mac pro laptop with AUDIONIRVA plus and my 3000cd collection on NAS. TIDAL is very good and even Spotify played via Aragon spotify box on the...
I bougth the reissue vinyl from reference recordings of Arnold’s overtures
And compared it to the original. I use the track Smoke (duplicated on the original)
And the original was clearly better. Dynamics was better and it has more “clarity”.
Still the reissue is very good but the original is...
I have no experience in home of amps costing around 150k but have tried at home numerous pre+monoblocs combos in the up to 60k region having learned that separates sounds better and of course looks heftier. Sarabande both sound better than all this combos and looks more impressive and...
With the reputation VAC has I understand that this 450ilQ is a world class amp
So is LennArt labs Sarabande. Which is the best we will never know, I doubt I will never have the chance to listen to the VAC in a controlled environment.
For decades the saying is that for true high end you need a...
My Focal Grande Utopia EM speakers are in imperial red/black color. By far the most beautiful of the utopias differen colors including the new utopia evo’s colors.
LennArt labs asked Focal about the color code for that specific red color and so my Sarabande amp is color matched to the speakers...
The Dvd from mckennitt live performance at Alhamra is also very good.Filmed at
The palace garden of Alhambra gives a magic touch to performance.
Played via my Oppo player and into my main rig it’s a gem
The sound quality of this DVD is very good.
The volume control on Sarabande is very important for the excellent sound quality. Extensive listening test confirmed that Sarabandes hard to build and expensive volum control gives a superior sound quality compared to a more conventional type.
I asked LennArt labs to describe the control:
I must correct again.
The original 2 vinyl of Arnold’s overtures are 33rpm not 45.
But the music is spread over 2 vinyls and the current issue is only one.
A sonic benefit to have the music spread over 2 vinyls instead of one?
My vinyl friend with all this records from company reference recordings came over with RR Malcom Arnold Overtures. One of the best records musical and soundwise I have ever heard. But over 250usd Used. Why can’t they make a reissue of this spectacular recording
My LennArt Labs Sarabande integrated SOTA amp has incredible dynamics and fantastic bass
Not so many watts but Big power supply. Lots of Lundahl transformers.
As stated in a separate post it’s better my previous high end amps Momentum monos, pass labs xa 100 monos,
VTL 400W stereo amp etc...
I Also listen to this set up in Muchen. I have no expectations and never heard about this company.
But what surprise this speakers was up at the same level as the best at the show regardless of price.
Fantastic sound. So open and airy. Big soundstage. Micro o micro details in spades. Excellent...
I haven just changed my vinyl player
In Stockholm veteran hi fi shop, veteranhifi.se. is an institution when it comes to vinyl and tube amps.
The owner “Mirre” has constructed the player Maximus and it comes with the arm Cantus S. I still use my Mandake PU.
Price around 20k USd
