While not in the exact same setup, I heard the Humboldt with the YG Sonjas
See my post above (#4). The Humboldt, for me was signiificantly better than the MAX/Pre G2 in these two setups heard back to back in two similar rooms and on similar speakers (YG Hailey 2s driven by the Humboldt vs the...

Has anyone heard about or even heard these bad boys? There's a lot to like about the design AMT Tweeter, heroic cabinet design etc.
I've tried to achieve sub 20 Hz pressurization with the Rel Gibraltar G1 in a six pack configuration (L & R channels x 3 high stacks/channel). With felt furniture coasters and staggered stacks to adjust launch and phase, one can play to their heart's content.
My room is 13.5 wide by 35 feet...
I know the Confidence 60 speaker was featured at Munich in at least one room last year, but if it was at Axpona, I missed it.
Does anyone have an opinion on the new line? Especially the new Esotar 3 and the funky waveguide? I never liked aspects of Dynaudio's old dual tweeter speaker designs...
Well, reading Audionet's propaganda :), It appears that DC coupling is a big difference technically, also the bandwidth of the scientist series is quite a bit wider.
Don't get me wrong the MAXs are better than all the other SS designs I've ever heard, but the Scientist series is better by a...
Identical thread? No I don't think so..
My question is pretty specific, I think.
For example I have a friend who has a 100k system fronted by a 10k pair of speakers that sounds truly epic. Yet I've heard these exact speakers several times with lesser electronics at shows and in homes and...
IMO, The Audionet Scientist Series (Humboldt Integrated, Stern Preamp & Heisenberg Monoblocks) are in a different league from the AMP and MAX series performance wise.
In fact, based on my audition of the Humboldt Integrated driving the YG Hailey 2s as well as the MAX Monoblocks and Stern Preamp...
I know that by now, many have heard the big separates, as I have been lucky enough to hear on two separate occasions in two vastly different setups (a BIG thanks to both Don and Bill for hosting me). I now feel that, for me, they are the best amplification I've yet heard.
But I'm very curious...
In your opinion, of Franco Serblin's own Sonus Faber designs or those designs for his own company. What was his best speaker?
For me it would have to be the Extremas, speakers way ahead of the amplifiers of the day, but amazing nonetheless.
The Electa Amator and the original Amatis are no...
Wow, the Derenville is WAY cool!!
So which SOTA analog setups excel at reduction of noise back into the stylus? I assume some of those decoupled from the motor and drive in one or more ways? magnetic induction etc...
Turntables, Cartridges, Tonearms, Oh My;)!
I've heard some of the very best of the best analog systems at shows and in dedicated dealer and home systems (Air Force 1, Walker, Brinkman, Clearaudio, Vyger, Kronos, Continuum Audio Labs etc.) The best of these are truly amazing, but can cost more...
In a stream of consciousness order..
André Calmettes - Jadis
Ken Stevens - CAT
Dusan Klimo - Klimo Audio
David Berning - Berning Audio
Yves Bernard Andre - YBA and Goldmund
Dave Reisch - Classe and Theta
Nelson Pass - First Watt and Pass Labs
Vladimir Lamm - Lamm...
A question just occured to me... Has there ever been a three way design incorporating the original heavy dipole heil-AMT as the tweeter? I had a pair of original ESS AMT1B 2 ways back in the 70s and always pined for a 3 way implementation.
Hi guys and happy new year.
I have a friend with a very good but modest system. He is looking to upgrade his old Monitor Audio Studio 20 floorstanding speakers and has caught the AMT bug.
I know of a few of the current designs incorporating this tried and true tweeter:
Both the dipole and the...
Hi Bob. Thanks for hosting John and I that evening in Manhattan. It was a most excellent evening in the big apple.
It was not my intention to misrepresent my status as a dealer. I am one. I'm a long term lurker but a relatively new active poster here.
As for my purchase of the Botticellis, I...
It's all in the title. I have my opinion and I'm sure many other contributors have theirs and I'm inviting insights.
What are your thoughts regarding image depth, density, placement focus and layering
It's great if you have opinions relative to live unamplified music as well.
