Jeff Rowland Daemon – Reviewing A Statement Superintegrated Amplifier

H Hello Guido, The Daemon at RMAF 2015 was showing a lot of promise particularly against some highly touted German electronics in another room across the hallway that was in my opinion disappointing!!!!! brash bright and unlistenable ...the large wilson ,constellation DCS room on the...

Jeff Rowland Daemon – Reviewing A Statement Superintegrated Amplifier

Hello Guido, I heard the Daemon at the RMAF 2015 upstairs with YG loudspeakers and the sound you are describing sounds like the Daemon I heard was not fully run in ,but in saying that the JRDG room had to my ears the best match at the show to the YG speakers ( if I remember correctly they had...

The Two Amigos Visit New Zealand-another 15000 Mile Epic Trip

Thank you Tao, I have spoken to many family and friends back in Christchurch and the feeling of helplessness and shock is overwhelming along with the City being placed in a lockdown with schools and other institutions closed it seems very surreal to me as I watch this madness from a distance .I...

Oh I missed your reply ....sorry, I will put up some photos of my room once I get time to sort it out .The room is part of the family area so I would like to move the speakers 90 deg along the long wall but my lady is not too happy about that idea hmmm domestic bliss versus compromised sound...

    Zero Distortion: Tango Time

I agree that act of an under arm delivery on the last ball with so few runs required by New Zealand to win was and is still seen as a very despicable act .

The Two Amigos Visit New Zealand-another 15000 Mile Epic Trip

Steve, That sounds wonderful, if you were near the botanic gardens and the museum with the art centre on the other side of the road you must have been close to the Christchurch Public Hospital and the Antigua boat sheds where they hire kayaks for exploring the Avon River . I very pleased your...

The Two Amigos Visit New Zealand-another 15000 Mile Epic Trip

Hi Northstar, The earthquake in September 2010 was big 7.1 on the Richter scale but reasonably deep and quite a distance from large residential and commercial buildings ,as opposed to the Feb 2011 Quake of 6.3 which was a shallow event and under the Lyttelton Port Hills . When I arrived home...

The Two Amigos Visit New Zealand-another 15000 Mile Epic Trip

Well Steve what more can I say but to wholeheartedly agree with your conclusion about the differences between the North and South Islands. Christchurch was my birth town and home until October 2017 when I moved to the Gold Coast of Australia. Christchurch unfortunately lost many of it's...

    Great Pyrenees

A breed of dog which may suit is the Giant Schnauzer. I have had 5 of them over the years , they don't shed ,don't smell as some dogs get a very strong aroma about them ,wonderful companions ,loyal and fantastic guardians . You have some long established well regarded breeders in California of...

    Transfiguration Co

That is sad news. After moving on from a Linn LP12 with a Naim ARO arm and Troika cartridge to a Stratosphere TT and Graham arm with the Transfiguration Temper cartridge I was very happy ,the cartridge survived the earthquakes that destroyed my arm and TT amazingly ,and now lives on in my...

What the world needs now is a $250,000 power amplifier

Yes they did ,But that price included the pre amp and connecting cables ,which at this level will be costly. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder .I thought the Naim was less BLING and a touch easier to hide in the room ( if something a metre high and about the same wide for the 2 mono's and the...

    Prototype Bob Carver Silver 7

I understand what you are saying ,I leave the Plinius in class A/B when it hits 40 deg C only to keep the lady happy as I love the heat ,she does not. I like the JRDG stuff when I went to RMAF 2015 his room with the YG Sonya speaker worked the PS audio room sounded flat and the GTT audio room...

    Prototype Bob Carver Silver 7

I would consider that amount of heat negligible in dr k's room ,I have the Plinius SA250 Mk4 and when in class A it generates in excess of 1kw of heat and that is easy to deal with even on the sunny Gold Coast of Australia .To each situation we make our choices 320 watts is not much more than...

    Prototype Bob Carver Silver 7

Hi dr k, WOW!!!!!!!!!! That is an amazing list of top of the line components ,you did not cut any corners with this project. I have been away from valve power amps for a few years and vinyl ( due to Earthquake damage and the subsequent insurance battles) but this amp in this implementation has...

Hello Dr K, I also have the Carver ALS ,mine are around 15 moths old without the space age footers that adorn your pair .I like them very much even though I am at the moment using a mixture of SS amps to drive them I do have a valve preamp as well so after moving a year ago and getting some time...

Does anyone use the Linn Klimax DS

Hi ,yes i have the Linn DS Klimax Katalyst streamer and enjoy it very much ,It is a big step up from previous Klimax products and massive leap above the Akurate model which will get some form of a Katalyst upgrade in the near future. Regards Russ

    The inaudibility of Ethernet

I have to disagree Bruce I believe it depends on the system as in my set up I can differentiate between generic cat6 Audioquest Forest cheap Vodka a sweat slightly warmer sounding cable to the Audioquest Diamond which has a lower noise floor cleaner more pristine sound. The Chord Sarum Tuned...

For those using Ethernet to your DAC

I also use those optical convertors and power them from 18000mhn battery power packs it does seem to clean up the noise floor ,and the final connection is an Audioquest Diamond ethernet cable into a Linn DS Katalyst Klimax streamer .I've used this solution for the last 2 years and it works well...
