It may be repurposed technology, but I do not believe its snake oil. Snake oil would imply, the technology does not work, but it seems to me that it does. What i do believe is the marketing is kept vauge and filled with techno-babble in order to disguise what the underlying technology is.
You might be onto something. I was grilling the distributer on how exactly the Harmoniser worked. He either didnt understand how, or was not saying. He was sure it was not schumann resonance, as with the Acoustic Revive R-77 & R-777 device. It could be they are trying very hard not to say air...
Well, I was able to have a demonstration of the Harmonizer system today. The distributer of the product had it setup in a local dealers room at Axpona. The room was already setup with ATS acoustical panels, which by the way were everywhere at Axpona thanks to ATS Acoustics. In any case, the...
As a follow up to my original posting on this topic, I did get a chance to hear the Harmonizer system today at Axpona in Chicago. I found it quiet accidentally. I was listening to a pair of Harbeth Monitors and I was quite taken by the expansive sound in the listening room. Really relaxed...
The Jasmine is fully burned in now, as well as my ZYX (Yatra) phono cartridge. I will be following up in about 7-10 days with listening impressions as well as a comparison against the RCM Sensor Prelude phono, which I am currently have on home trial. I'm pretty sure the RCM will wipe the floor...
My dog once ate though a section of cabling for my home theater system. Completely ate though left, right, and center channel wires that I had running in between the joists.
I voted mostly analog. I would like to play more digital, but my digital setup is far behind my analog front end so it does not provide nearly the musical enjoyment. Perhaps if I had a better digital front end, things might be different.
IMHO. In terms of mechanical vibration, a particular component (might) be sensitive to external vibrational energy, or it's own internal vibrational energy such as from transformers. It's either it's sensitive to that to some degree, or it's not. If sensitive to internal vibration, then...
Probably, or probably not. Impossible to know without trying. I'm not advocating that everyone goes out and invests in tweaks. Many are system dependent and some are pure snake oil. My before comment about the audio manufactures system, which probably was 10-15x more expensive than my own...
Most of my tweaks were trial and error. Mostly anti-vibration, coupling, de-coupling, isolation, damping, AC noise filtering. The net result is music that's much more musical and enjoyable for me. I do know, had I not experimented and tried out new things, my system would not be where it is...
I recently visited the home of a well known audio component manufacturer. He invited me to over hear one of his components that I had a home trial of. I was initially very excited to hear an audio system with some pretty high-end gear. I found it rather odd that he managed to assemble...
Well, after my mishap with the Alpha Genesis 1000, I had to get a replacement. I settled on the ZYX R-100 Yatra. Got it installed last week and yesterday tweaked it using Feickert's Adjust+ Pro. I can say that although it's still in break-in, it's sounding at least as good as the Genesis and...
I have found the Expressimo Audio gauge (Micro-Tech) to be reliable. Although it's only accurate to .1g, it does measure the pressure at record height, and the stylus pad is non-magnetic. I usually fine tune the VTF by ear by adding/subtracting .01g balls of blue-tac to/from the head-shell...
If I want what I had, which was custom work by VDH, it would have to go back to them. 350+ Euro. It's not so much the boron, imho, it's the Gyger I VDH stylus that I'm not sure I want to do without. I never heard the stock Genesis 1000, so it's hard for me to say. I have another Genesis...
Thanks. Yep, I've been considering Sound Smith and also Axel @ schallplattennadeln. Trying to decide which stylus to go with. Axel offers Nude Shibata made by Nagaoka, and Gyger II by Goldring. I read some of the reviews of the Ruby cantilever, just not sure what the advantage is. I know...
I've decided to use the incident of clumsiness as a reason to upgrade. Once my new Headshell mounting screws arrive, I'll install the ZYX. I want to thank Mehran for helping me out.
If John Darko can make a product announcement and call it a mini-review then so can I.... :p
On a serious note, initial (3 albums) impressions are very favorable. Deep and layered texturing of instruments, subtle nuances of stings, each stoke of a violin having it's own unique nuance and...
