Hi Alvin. Looking at the pics you sent out today of your new listening space, it looks like you've changed your speakers to the ATC's. Did you sell your Magico speakers?

Exactly. I do the same. If you want best sonic performance, this is just the trade off. My TPlus and Gaia were both unplugged for a couple months. I plugged them in three days ago. Initially, I was like "hmmmm.... sounds very nice but not as good as I remembered". Didn't listen again...

Yeah, I think you are right about the converter quality. The thing that got me interested was, the reviewer's system is obviously state of the art stuff, and here he was finding the $500 Yeti had better sonic performance than a dedicated line with power conditioning. At that price it is...

Alternatively, or in combination with a dedicated line, there is a battery power supply that can be used to power some or all components: https://www.goalzero.com/shop/archive-power/goal-zero-yeti-1000-lithium-portable-power-station/ I was reading a review of the Raidho TD 4.2 and the reviewer...

On the topic of power cords, I can't recall if we've had this discussion in this thread already, but I'm curious about others experience in terms of component hierarchy as it relates to power cords. Perhaps ideally, you would have the same power cord on all components, but this being the real...

Thanks for the information Alvin! I am definitely in the analog volume control camp with you. @StreamFidelity makes some good points as well. I know this is a touchy subject and can lead to world wars. I have no problems if others prefer digital attenuation, so I'll just leave it at that. :D

Hi, I hope all in our Denafrips group are doing well. I am wondering if anyone else has any input on an issue I am having. I installed the latest Denafrips driver on my laptop for my headphone setup. The driver shows up as installed. I get sound just fine, the problem is, when I move the...

6 years?!?! Wowza! Yeah, Brad is so hit and miss. I guess it still beats the LH Labs (Larry Ho) Indiegogo scam. I lost about $4,000 on that deal, with absolutely no products to show for it and unfortunately our legal actions didn't work. Live and learn. I look at these experiences and...

On a somewhat related note, I finally received my replacement Revelation Audio Labs HDMI (6 month wait). I haven't had any chance to compare it to my Tubulus, or to a Belden I got from Blue Jeans, but will report back once I've had a chance to go through the comparison process. I also need to...

I'd say to just go for inexpensive clock and HDMI cables to start. Yes, some of us went all-in on crazy expensive cables (myself included, but I am a big cable believer), but frankly, I would just live with the cheaper cables to start with and enjoy the awesomeness of the sound improvements...

If you have a Denafrips DAC that has the clock out feature (TPlus, T2), it would be a travesty not to take advantage of this technology. Once you have reached that level of performance and spent that kind of money, a Denafrips DDC and some clock cables (you might really only need one cable...

To be clear on one point in my previous post, for RJ45, I am only referring to an RJ45 cable inserted between the Denafrips DDC and the Denafrips DAC. For RJ45 cables placed elsewhere in the system, the length is not an issue.

Hi Richard, I liked RJ45 I2S as well, but, it proved to be very problematic running RJ45 from my Gaia to my TP (I think I wrote about the popping/static noises earlier in this thread). In order to avoid these noises you need an exceptionally short RJ45 to avoid these problems. I think Alvin...

The sound is a bit fuller and more fleshed-out, but the biggest enhancement is in clarity, resolution, holography/sound stage. It is not quite apples to apples though, since we are now comparing the performance of the USB input vs I2S via HDMI input to the DAC.

You might have already watched this, but in case you have not, the reviewer here mentions MSB DAC's in his review: One of the big selling points of the Terminator Plus is the ability to engage the clock out feature, to the upstream DDC and the only professional review I have seen using a...

Hey Raj, Under the TPlus, I am using Stillpoints Ultra's (2 aluminum version, 1 stainless steel- not intentionally, just ended to with a mix of Aluminum and Stainless steel versions). Mapleshade platform, and then the Mapleshade platforms are sitting on Boston Audio Tune Blocks. Oh, and...

Hey Raj! Yes, footers should not be overlooked. I had the same findings for sure- once you get the basics covered and you want to further experiment and tune, footers make a very noticeable difference on these Denafrips DAC's and D/D converters, no doubt.

Argentus is a great choice. After you complete burn in on that cable, go back and swap between NOS and OS and see which one you prefer with the Argentus in place. It think it sounds very good in both NOS and OS, but I found the Argentus to be most complementary with OS. I think the Argentus...

Hi, welcome to the forum @Jaytor! Congrats on the Gaia purchase. I prefer i2S input with both of my Denafrips DAC's but of course experiment and see what you think. There are no rules and we all hear differently and have our own sonic preferences. I think I2S sounds more open and airy with a...

Well, I am not surprised by the result as I did the same experiment with Gaia + Terminator Plus, but I2S is still my favorite input. It was nice to go back and double check myself though.

Thanks Raj! I just purchased these footers for the Venus. They are the Mig 2.0. I have a few sets of the cheaper regular Mig's as well. My early impressions are that the 2.0 are comparatively more neutral, whereas the originals impart a comparatively warmer signature. I normally run...

Venus 2 arrived in Salt Lake City just 3 1/2 days after shipping from China. A new record in shipping time for my Denafrips purchases! I hooked up all my digital cables (HDMI, Toslink and spdif) between the Venus 2 and Iris. After I burn in the Venus I will start switching around to different...

I have no experience with Sommer, but I like the Kimber D60. I think Alvin enjoys the Sommer if memory serves. After purchasing the Kimber I then tried a Stealth Audio cable and it is truly exceptional (but crazy expensive). Just amazing and the amount of additional sonic improvement over the...
