    Review of the Senheiser HD800S

Think so. I need an SUV as well - so I think the SUV is going to win out over a stereo system...

    What's Everyone Reading

I think I have now read everyone one of Ben MacIntyre's Books. The latest being this: he writes very well for those of us that don't have much in the way of grey cells.

    Review of the Senheiser HD800S

Hmmm. All good points and well made. Personally I'm still considering a higher end headphone set up - but frankly at the prices of the higher end headphones, and the front end + amplification - I am drawn back to a simple HD6xx / DT 880 etc, and half decent converter/streamer like a Naim HP4...

    Review of the Senheiser HD800S

I haven't been very active in a while now - lost interest in hi fi discussion in favour of listening - but am curious after reading your experiences - do you feel it might just be time for a different headphone - like the D8000 or Meze or something? Sounds like alot of work to cure alot of...

Man - I feel an intellectual lightweight in the company of the readers of the distinguished works cited ^. Jolly good story.

What are you currently listening to (Classical)?

Oh yes - a really, really good performance - happenstance I listened to this last week while having a Brahms fest. Pretty hard to beat Arrau, the CO and Haitnik. By the by - saw the RCO once in Sydney at the Opera House - horrid space for folks that haven't been there (looks pretty from the...

    This is insane...the Quad ESL

That would be me. I respectfully differ in my assessment - although I would agree it depends on how loud you care to listen. That said all of the amplifiers mentioned I imagine would be great with 57's. But really, its the state of the 57's that matters more than the amplifier, IMHO.

Not for me - but I understand the 7506's Dekoni's can work. Think I'll start my own thread about a headphone search rather than further pollute Tom's - sorry Tom ;)

Yes - with you there - I don't like Music either - took the 6 months but have cancelled it already. Oh well. Onwards.

I wonder if it is the same I have (mine's 2007 - BIS 1701/2) - mine's ripped to 64 .dsf off a SACD. It is very good, as I recall. BIS is very reliable.

Got this in my inbox today.... PrimePhonic sold to Apple, service going offline in a week - going to integrate with Apple Music next year. In the meantime subscribers are offered 6 months of Apple Music.

Ok - that takes my most rock n' roll classical cover art this year. Cool.

    My Current Audio Systems

Yup - .... what I thought as well. I've had MDR7506s that took years of abuse to get to that state. That is nice to hear about Meze: I've never owned or heard a pair - just referenced them by reputation: their build quality is said to be excellent. Thanks for your experience of them. I'll keep...

A fun photo for the day

Oh, nothing special - fried off the eggplant, added the tomato/herb mix to make a sauce, I'd already cleaned the mussels and rinsed a few times in in fresh water, and so cooked them in the sauce and that was that - the remaining seawater in them (not much after a couple of rinses) gives great...

Yup. Oh - what is that? I liked my LCD3's - apart from weight and the Sydney heat.

    My Current Audio Systems

Morning Tom Thought to share a couple few thoughts - picked up some NAD HP50's (A$302) and some Airport Max's (A$900) - the former to see if I can tolerate headphones before spending any money and the latter to see if BT quality is good enough for me as an audio solution. For context I've...

What are you currently listening to (Classical)?

@LL21 - you inspired me to have a listen to BPO / Furtwrangler's B's 4th. One of the ones I enjoy the most. The opening of the 4th is one of the best I have come across, noise and all. There is what.. - over 140 Beethoven cycles released now? Something like that I read somewhere. This one is...

A fun photo for the day

I'm not much of a cook, but we do get nice fresh mussels, and I try to give it a bash. This was before the carnage began. All looks very orderly at this point... Wishing everyone a wonderful day, filled with love, laughter and happiness.

Carrying on the Kats - Chernin / Tamara Cislowski theme for a moment - these Satie interpretations are really quite beautiful, should a more soulful mood arise. I listened to them last evening, and enjoyed them. Streamed from PrimePhonic. Great recording from DG.

Harbeth Monitor 40.2 40th Anniversary Edition Loudspeaker Review

We have one hi fi shop of the Rotel / NAD / Monitor Audio variety - nothing of interest to me. Very nice folks, however. But you know when you walk in a shop, look about, have a sales person come along and you think - “oh dear God no….” The other shop is all about home theatre and custom...

Harbeth Monitor 40.2 40th Anniversary Edition Loudspeaker Review

They were/are modest by 'audiophile' judgement, but if you leave those pre conceived notions at the door, and allow yourself to enjoy the music, they are remarkable. I liken them to a full bodied 30.1's, but not as resolving. Yes - I usually buy secondhand, unless it is unavoidable eg Eclipse...
