The best State or region for Audiophile

I had lived in Bay Area for 6 and 1/2 years during 1980's. It was not that hot during summer except few days of Indian summer. It also rained often during winter. I had enjoyed living there. The only problem is that the cost of housing and electricity is pretty high now.

The best State or region for Audiophile

My take of worst region for audiophile is Southern California. Electricity and housing costs are expensive over there. Property tax and state income tax also make living there expensive. There is also high danger of earthquake which can ruin your audio system. It is also pretty hot during...

With enough rain, BC Canada, Washington State, Oregon, Idaho have stable supply of hydro electricity. But who knows, if drought come, the situation can change.

The best State or region for Audiophile

The most safe area in US immune to natural disaster is Arizona. Little risk of earthquake, hurricane or tornado. It also has a decent high end shops around Phoenix. But it is too hot during summer to enjoy music. Thus it is not the best state for audiophile although it is good to live for...

The best State or region for Audiophile

It is a paradise in Pacific Northwest from May to Oct with mild and dry weather. But it could be wet during the half of year. Some people living in Pacific Northwest have winter residence in Arizona or Nevada to have sunshine during winter time. As I get older, I do not want to take a risk...

Actually weather is shit for 5 months from Nov to March except 4 or 5 days a months, so one can just enjoy music inside home. But it is not too cold or hot here in Pacific Northwest. ;)

The best State or region for Audiophile

I had been to Vancouver Island several times and could have almost ended up living over there about 10 years ago. If I had settled in Canada, it is the place to live with mild weather.

It is easy to do shopping for high end in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore. But the housing cost is so high there that they listen to music in tiny space.

The best State or region for Audiophile

My community of 25 houses take more than 2 acres lot each. Thus I can play music loud even during midnight as long as I close the windows. I am happy about it. Unless I develop serious health issues, I will stay put at my current house in Northwest of Washington State. In addition, my house...

I will say "Washington State", especially Northwest of Washington State. 1. The home electricity cost is low so you can play A class power amplifier with less cost. https://www.electricchoice.com/blog/state-profiles-highestlowest-electric-rates/ 2, It is not very hot during summer on West...

Best DACs comparison test result [[My Subjective Opinion]]

Not sure whether MSB Discrete is a definite improvement over QX 20. You had better have home audition of it before pulling the trigger. I had been using EMMlab Dac2 for almost 10 years now. But it is not easy to make decision on changing Dac since new Dac can come out in a year or two with...

    Magnepan LRS ....>>>Challenge ???

Above video appears to give good background about the sound of LRS. I had used Apogee Duetta Signature driven by Krell KSA 150 from 1989 to 1999. But I had never used Magnepan in my listening room although I heard them in the stores. My impression was Magnepan had softer bass than Apogee...

    Magnepan LRS ....>>>Challenge ???

I pulled the trigger for LRS. It will take 5-6 weeks before I get it. I expect to run it with Lyngdorf 2170 (170w at 4 ohm) possibly with PSB subwoofer ( 2 12 inch driver and active 500w) I had never used Magnepan but I had used Apogee Duetta Sig from 1989 to 1999.

How loud do you play the music?

It must be 110db peak. Otherwise something will blow up. I should have separate posting about isolation transformers and ferrite cores. About one hour ago, I got another delivery of 1KW isolation transformers. With 4 isolation transformers and 40 ferrite cores on the cables, the sound had...

How loud do you play the music?

My listening room on third floor is 18 ft wide 24 feet deep and 20ft high but open to the second floor. I also have lot of acoustic panels and diffusor in it. With open space, I could play loud without congestion. The only thing matter is digital noise or sheen. It got reduced substantially...
