I was looking at getting either the ML 37 or 30. Yes, I know they are old, but I have owned both many years ago and I liked them. Which do you feel has the better sound? Btw, let's assume both are mechanically in great condition.
Maybe some of it is nostalgia at this point.
Thanks.
Thanks. I did some additional reading after making that post and did not know about the multiples. Kind of good news and bad news. The good news is I got the answer. The bad news is I’m going to spend more money. :)
Thanks for the comment. I'm opting for the Rossini without the transport.
I was looking at the specs of the Rossini clock. The specs say clock frequencies of 44.1 and 48khz. So does the mean that it. has no affect when streaming 96 or 192khz?
I am considering either the Rossini or Rossini player. The two are identical except for the CD transport.... oh yea, and the money. :)
Does anyone know if they sound identical? I know it sounds like a weird question. The reason I'm asking is for example, the Bartok and the Rossini DAC is the...
Thanks for your reply. Good pickup. I meant the Discrete versus Premier.
I should have explained better. I find that with some components I have purchased in the past, as I went up to the next model, there was more resolution, detail, transparent, but it lost some ofa full sound. It sounded...
I was looking to make a decision between the Select and the Premier. Either would be used with the Powerbase.
This might be not the normal question when addressing this comparison, but is one more musical to listen to than the other? Obviously the Premier has more detail and other attributes...
It does have the same four layer circuit board. From what I read, it is basically the 160S but half the power.
AR is still selling the REF 75SE on their website as well. However I do see some dealers that have the REF 75SE selling for less than original retail.
I actually have the REF 75SE, I was wonder the difference in sound.
I know it is now switchable between pentode and triode mode. I do like the auto bias feature.
Of course, if there is not much difference in sound, then of course there is no reason to change amps.
Try swapping the 20 amp breaker for a 30 amp breaker. I did it and it definitely improved the sound even though I wasn't drawing close to 30 amps. It's am inexpensive tweak.
That's a quite an indictment of the SOtM USB cable. There is no comparison of the Alpha to the Sigma USB in my system. I auditioned both before keeping the Sigma. I read somewhere on the forum where it was said that the Alpha is 90% of the Sigma. That must be the new math. :)
I had liked the SOtM until I heard the Sigma. The SOtM has a nice wide holographic soundstage, but just sounded flat in comparison. The Sigma was more musical. Neither cable is bright.
In general I’m. I’m not a fan of SOtM components. I had the USB ultra with their LPS and the music is too thin...
Well I guess I'll have to answer my own question.
I have about 70 hours on the Sigma ethernet cable, and it is excellent. More musical and detailed than the SOtM.
I also picked up the Sigma USB cable and it also is a home run. Definitely better than the Alpha.
I've had a lot of upgrades as well, but even as they have all improved the sound, the Phoenix makes the instrument sound so real.
I'm using a Kubala Sosna Realization power cable, and their USB cable. I need to audition a second USB cable. In the meantime I had a JPS Labs Superconductor cable...
I'll tell you one thing, $9k is absolutely absurd. I have had KC CX, Sigma NR, Kabala Sosna Realization power cords, and all are wonderful. They are also half the price of the Omega.
You can say R&D until the cows come home. Cables have such an enormous markup, and it is ridiculous to set such...
Get real. The guy is asking about two older version products and you're advising him about spending like another $15K.
Try letting him know which of the Triton V2 or Denali 6000/S V1 has better performance.
