Sorry for the late reply, but I‘m planning on being there as well. Very excited to have a local show in Seattle. Anil

Hi @mtemur, I actually tried rotating the mounting plate and it had not helped. As Dave says, it was mostly due to the restriction of the plate from rotating (which also had the side effect of not resulting in the correct overhang as I could not move it forward). I ended up getting the set of...

Nice, this seems to include the round ribbed nuts, similar to what Dave was mentioning. Out of stock at AcousticSounds, but gives me ideas for what else to search for... Anil

@dan31, @jadis: unfortunately the nut I have does not fit in the bottom. Unfortunately it's *just* barely too big :-) I probably need to find smaller sized ones. Anil

Hi jadis: the issue is that even if loosen the top bolt (which I have done to move the plate) I don't have much room to "straighten out" the mounting plate so it's nicely parallel to the grid lines. Anil

Great, thanks Dave! I will definitely check these out. Do you happen to remember what these are called, so can I search on Amazon? Now that you mentioned filing, it gives me an idea to see if I can knock off some corners of the nuts to give the cartridge mounting plate a little more room to...

Hi Koetsu experts: I recently got a retipped/rebuilt Onyx Platinum and am trying to mount on my Schroeder CB-9 tonearm with its standard headshell. This is the old style cartridge with unthreaded screw holes, which requires adding nuts to secure it. I'm running into an issue (probably newbie)...

Spindle thread stuck in record clamp

Nice, thanks for the tip with two M6 nuts. I didn't know about half-width nut, as that's probably what I would need as I did not have enough threads for two regular M6 nuts. Overall, interesting experience, and I learned a few new tricks :-) Anil

Spindle thread stuck in record clamp

Just to close on this: I was able to finally extract it by wrapping the spindle with blue masking tape (of all the things) and using a different set of pliers I had (Knipex Cobra Water Pump Pliers, in case any one else is interested) and it did the trick! I guess blue tape is even stronger...

Spindle thread stuck in record clamp

Interesting idea, Mike, I might give it a try if others don't work. Though, I also wonder if the rotation directions will work. Currently, I'm able to screw this on the to fairly heavy platter (which would be a little like running a nut and clamping it) and when I try to unscrew, the spindle...

Spindle thread stuck in record clamp

A quick update: it looks like the reverse nut idea may not work. I went to a couple of hardware stores to find an M6 reverse threaded nut, they didn't have them, but the guy at Ace hardware pointed out that I would not be able to even thread the spindle onto a left handed thread as the helical...

Spindle thread stuck in record clamp

Great, thanks! I will try the reverse thread idea, if it does not work I will gladly take you up on your offer. Anil

Ah, this is a very clever idea, I will try this out tomorrow!

Spindle thread stuck in record clamp

So, I have a strange problem that I'm hoping someone can help with. My turntable has a threaded spindle insert (M6 threads on both ends with a thicker middle portion for the record hole). It unfortunately got stuck inside the record clamp. The clamp is actually used to load and unload the...

    Pivoting Linear-Tracking Tonearms

Thanks Shuggie, in my case the tonearm will be set up by the TT designer, so the fitting should be precise. How difficult is to set up a cartridge on this arm? Is it any different from regular tonearms like the 3P? I assume 5T is a completely different matter, but my understanding is that...

    Pivoting Linear-Tracking Tonearms

I would also be very interested in learning about the Reed 5A as well - I'm currently considering it for my Dohmann Helix One and was curious about how difficult it was to install and set up and of course how it sounds. I was originally considering the 3P, but this sounded intriguing. The...

Splitting line level signal - do XLR/RCA splitters cause problems?

Thanks, I was asking about situations where there's only one output (either SE or balanced); my current DAC (not Dave) happens to just have one set of XLR outputs. I actually ended up getting a pair of Jensen mono speaker to line level converters optimized for subwoofer (ISO-MAX JT-SS-XX). I...

Duelund Speaker Cables for Avantgarde Speakers

To those using the Duelund DCA12GA cables: how exactly does one twist the cables? Do you first remove the cotton covering/sheath to separate the two wires and then twist them? Or just use the cables as they come, inside the sheath? I thought I would check first before I destroyed the cables...

Avantgarde Trio Luxury VS Tannoy Kingdom Royal

Interesting, do you remember what their explanation was? They still say so in their marketing materials. I have it a little close to my walls. For me, the supposed flexible positioning and the narrow dispersion angle (to reduce the effect my glass windows on one side) were attractive. Of...

Avantgarde Trio Luxury VS Tannoy Kingdom Royal

Hi @marslo , do you know what's different with the LE 26 version? They look amazing for sure, with the chrome frame (compared to my powder metal coated frames), are the parts and internals different too? @bonzo75 What are your thoughts on going with a single pair of Basshorns, compared with...

Pacific dac: Lampizator's new top of the line dac

Thanks. I had already tried moving the DAC away from the amps (as a matter of fact, it's now behind the wall in the picture above) and the DAC is on the duplex outlet as one of the amps. Neither of these made a difference. However, I have not yet tried connecting the ground from DAC to the...

Pacific dac: Lampizator's new top of the line dac

Here's the latest set up, still work in progress :-) My DAC was on a dolly as I was trying some configurations. I may end up moving the amps and DAC behind the wall (there's a closet on the other side), assuming thermal issues are not a concern. Trying to keep the front of the room really...
