I have coverage from each day in each room as well as wrap up videos. It was totally different from Munich but cool to see things you never see normally... Just stuff from hardcore audiophile passions... Like this
Lol... How can I give the wrong impression when I literally filmed quasi streaming the entire show from my perspective. You don't have to take my word for it, just watch and see for yourself.
You may not have much experience with shows or the industry, but this is far more business oriented...
I plan to attend. I was going to do a room with the 3mA guys in Houston, but they have conflicts. I'll have the Bacch ADIO with me for in-home demos while in Dallas (first come first serve and limited availability left), but I also may partner with any room who wants to have the Bacch in their...
I think you do a good job of highlighting some issues people have with certain recording techniques, but you're still looking at it through the lense of your personal preferences as well as false comparisons and benchmarks.
You keep wanting a live concert to evolve in front of you regardless of...
There was a lot from Capital Audio Fest, but be on the lookout for articles coming soon from The Absolute Sound. Andrew Quint I believe is now using the Bacch for all reviews going forward and Edgar will have a big article soon...plus reports from others like Robert Harley.
I have many...
Interesting comment, but I think your experience of "exaggerated 3D" is easily explainable since you mentioned your benchmark is a "live concert". The Bacch doesn't seek to recreate a live concert....unless that's what was intended in the recording. Most recordings are studio based and not the...
I do have a lot of videos already on the Bacch. Right now I just have the Bacch4Mac, but it's been upgraded to the full pro status that includes the headphone and many other additions.
I know someone asked about the headphone module and it's impressive. Really freaky in a good way. You...
I have a comprehensive video (over 40 minutes) that covers virtually everything that stood out to me. The Arion were very good and reminded me of a pair of speakers I owned in the past (and still own). I address that in the upcoming video which I think I will release tomorrow or Friday. If...
I have over 60 videos from the Pacific Audio Fest and more to come. Tomorrow I'll release my wrap-up video with "best rooms", but nearly everything was better than most shows because of a few factors:
1. The attendance was really light. Thus, the noise floor was low and you could get the prime...
Fans of Aries Cerat will certainly appreciate this interview. He provides great insights into the designs of both their electronics and speakers. Very innovative and state-of-the-art brand that truly delivers a "high-end" product and experience...
I don't know exactly. He made a deal that included a custom preamp too which has just been completed. I'll have a video soon.
It was very reasonable for the performance and customization... Well less than dealer and distributor markup pricing.
If you call Steve directly I'm sure he will tell you.
I wasn't at the CAF, but this show seemed on par with many other crowds I've seen at shows over 20 years.
You'll have spurts where the rooms are packed and spurts where there's plenty of room.
It may not have been recorded attendance, but the # of rooms were less, so it made it pretty similar...
I attended and uploaded a video of almost every room except one that was pretty bad.
Here's the recap video of what I found to be the best, but frankly the other videos and "surprises" video are worthwhile to check out since many new brands (or less common ones) exhibited at the show.
It was...
Capital Audiofest looked like it was successful which is good news.
I know the Spooktacular Audio Fest was a big hit, but was a totally different type show. For those interested in a 30 minute summary...
I mentioned it on my small YouTube channel, but those near Houston Texas may be interested in an audio show October 30th at 3mA Audio.
One of the only demo pair of MBL Extremes are on display as well as many other unique gear.
Reps from MBL and Nordost are scheduled to do formal demos as...
You hit the nail on the head. I've been going to shows since the 90s, and this one was super unique. It was like spending 3 days in dealerships where you could interact and listen much more than ever before.
I've got at least 6 more videos. The next system we setup is B&W Nautilus and also Avantgarde Duo.
We also do "sound checks" on the cars... Not the stereos in the cars... instead...
an engine roar comparison between Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren and Porsche.
Never been to anyone's house that...
For those who like over-the-top systems, homes, cars, etc...I was lucky to accompany the guys at 3mA Audio to a customer install in Las Vegas.
We stayed over 4 days setting up 3 mega systems in this customer's new home. The first was Wilson Audio Maxx 3 with Vitus Audio monos (others will...
I agree. Those speakers and the system sounded sweet. I featured it in a few videos, but here is one where I went with Steve McCormack and Rick Brown of HiFi One...both of them liked it too.
Are you guys still on lockdown? If you can travel, try to come to Rocky Mountain Audio Fest in Denver this coming October. I will be there covering the show, but also my friends will have 2 rooms in tandem with MBL and Estelon...should be amazing!
BTW, I finished my videos on The Home...
I attended THE Show 2021 in Long Beach. It was small and lightly attended, but that was a positive for those that attended. I got to spend a lot of time in each room and will have plenty of "deep dive" videos.
I already have a few on YouTube for those interested...
The Home Entertainment...
Just did a video with Steve and one of his customers (a good friend of mine) who just received a custom pair of monos from SMcAudio.
These weren't totally "cost-no-object", but it was a very healthy budget that allowed Steve to apply whatever was needed for optimal performance.
Even the...
It's hard to say what may be best for any particular room without measuring and hearing first hand. However, based on my experience with MBLs and others that own them, I can share just some anecdotal recommendations.
First, there really is no "first reflection point" with MBLs, so I think...
Yeah...I loved that room.
I've been lucky to hear quite a few mega dollar rooms and go to many shows over the years. That room definitely stood out amongst the crowd.
Many more videos to come of other systems...
The room is far from perfect, but it's not terrible either. As far as showrooms go, it's more than good enough to showcase what the Extremes can do.
I recently did a video series where I compared different room and systems with the same tracks. Here is one of them that has the MBL Extremes at...
