As already mentioned you should probably use spdif/aes with N20 for best result, this is also one of the key differences with the ocxo clock in the N20 vs N200. It's of course a combination with your DAC, so maybe one can't say that you should _always_ do this or that, but from an N20...
this was a few years ago and I had a few other cables in between so difficult to say, but to me the Audience is a good allround cable if you don't want to think about cables, it will never stand out in any comparison, but it will not take you the extra steps either. of course every system...
I had an Audience AU24SX RCA cable in my system for a short while (a few months), it was not in a direct comparison as it was before I discovered Sablon, but while the Audience was an "ok" cable in the sense that it didn't really do anything wrong, it didn't really stand out in any special way...
Sablon Audio S/PDIF cable with Bocchino plugs here (and full Sablon Audio cable loom for that matter) :) I believe great cables allows the equipment to present themselves from their best side and the synergy effect is difficult to overlook.
funny I also have an LP12... :) it's interesting how opinions and experiences can differ to almost the opposite though, perhaps it's system dependent, balance and matching with the rest of the system, but in the end it also comes down to personal preferences. I still think Pulsar vs N20 is an...
I've actually tried both Innuos Pulsar and Aurender N20.
They're both great streamers, they are however in completely different price ranges as the N20 is more than double the price of the Pulsar, a comparison with N200 would probably be more "fair". They're also quite different.
Pulsar offers...
I know a guy who tried multiple switches in a row and came to the conclusion that the magic number and "sweet spot" was three of them. People will most definitely come to different conclusions though. Personally I think there's a balance of sound quality, price and esthetic in play. I'm...
Congrats to your B3! :)
Nobody ever wants to settle with provided tubes, whatever they are.... it's always more of a starting point.
I think the last year has been an experimentation with more adapters and converters than ever expanding the search for new tubes. some great discoveries has...
It's maybe more like you don't hear noise in the system, until it's gone. And it's maybe not so much about actual "noise" but more of disturbances coming in through our networks affecting the performance of the streamer, even when playing files stored locally on a streamer it is being affected...
I'm very glad to hear this, thanks! I've read about SFP for years but always been a bit skeptical about it, trying to read between the lines of peoples experiences, thinking the SFP modules introduces their own problems and that the resulting sound might not be to my liking etc. It's always...
Thanks for your report! Btw do you have a Muon Pro in the chain also or "only" the Tempus?
I reasoned very similar to you regarding the 100/1000 mbps and I used to have the Innuos PhoenixNET, this was one of the reasons I sold it.
When I decided to upgrade my streamer/server I figured I'd take a completely fresh approach to it and actually sold everything I had in the digital chain, including the Innuos PhoenixNET switch. This upgrade is still very much a work in progress so currently I can only play vinyl... ;) Trying a...
Interesting, I don't have my Muon Pro or instructions currently as I've lent it to a friend while I'm doing changes to my digital setup, but I'm pretty sure my instructions said the opposite to have the short cable to the switch and the longer ethernet cable to the streamer. Maybe i'm mistaken...
Nice work you've put into this @luca.pelliccioli, very interesting - thank you! One thing I noticed, or maybe I misunderstood(?), is that you seem to always use the various ethernet cables before the Muon Pro? While Network Acoustic do encourage people to test and experiment themselves for best...
Well, my story is a bit more complicated. About two years ago I was looking for a streamer/server but got fed up with the alternatives and at the time I was not prepared to pay the premium price of for example Statement and above. Highly inspired by the infamous DIY thread on Audiophile Style I...
On my journey towards a new digital setup I got the opportunity to try the Innuos PULSAR in my home, I’ve been playing with it for a couple of days now and I must say that I actually like it a lot! I was looking forward to the PULSAR for a long time as it on paper looked very interesting and to...
I had SR Purple in both Phoenix products and I changed them at the same time so no idea about how to prioritise between them.
I use Sablon Audio for all my cables. The power cable is quite special with the huge Bocchino plugs.
I’m currently looking over my entire digital setup where I’ve...
I've been using Innuos PhoenixNET and PhoenixUSB as well as Sean Jacobs designed PSU's to power my server/streamer solutions for quite some time, my experience with all of these is that good power makes a big difference here, it could actually be the products that has answered best on fuse...
I agree with you all, it took some attempts to make it, but once it's in it stays put, no chance that it's going to fall out.... ;) I was even so happy that I bought 2 of the AZ1 adapters so I didn't have to remove it when trying another tube, haha! not sure that's even possible....
ECC40...
Welcome! :)
I found the Woo Audio adapter (from USA) better than the adapter from Poland (also found on eBay), but the price difference is quite high.

speaking of adapters, I remembered that I have 2 more! :D now you're (finally) going to think i'm crazy, but....
I'm using RCA->XLR adapters which to me actually sounds better than going XLR-XLR as I then also can use the gain switch in high mode (sorry newer B3 and B4 owners, the switch is...
I feel there's fresh winds blowing over the Baltics these days, the good old recti's have to move over and leave room for new (but still old) exciting options... ;)
Both the Valvo az1 and Bendix 6106 are very interesting rectis, I like them both a lot, but I also had different experiences with them when it comes to matching with other tubes. I found the Bendix (talk about built like a tank) to be amazingly fun together with Tungsram e80cc but it was maybe a...
nice! you got your hands full there... don't forget to share your findings with us... :)
I have a pair of RCA 12bh7a which I like a lot, but then I got the Tungsram e80cc nickels shortly after and then I moved my 12bh7's to my amplifier that takes the same tubes. I felt that was a better...
the thing with better sound is that you don't know it until you hear it. I don't know how many times I've felt that how can things possibly sound any better than this, or now it doesn't need to get any better etc. and then you try something else and forget all about it. someone once told me to...
thank you, and the pleasure is all mine (ok, maybe shared pleasure!), but the winners are all of us... :)
indeed, and we can't expect all tubes to be better than the previous ones, that would be too good to be true and we would have to start question other things in our heads. sometimes it's...
