Thx Todd,
That's how I read it, understood it, but it doesn't make sense to me, to have the right speaker working, as especially in the bass region it will bring in a lot.
But I will try this and get back to you, how it works out for me.
I'm in Germany. To get Stirling do the job will cost...
@sbnx ,
Thanx for this awesome thread about your Trio G3.
I've yet to hear the new generation Avantgarde Acoustic, using Uno (from 2004) for 9 years now.
I'm so happy for you, you got to this level with all your commitment and dedication.
I've set up quite some speakers, but your way doing...
@AudioHR ,
I don't understand your question.
This is not something you can do when you never repaired a tube-amp yourself.
But if you know how to handle a soldering iron safely, you can do this.
Only thing is check if some high voltages are still there before starting.
Otherwise, every...
Alright, it was 95hz actually. Even as the horn slowly drops from 200hz, I think 135hz is really to high. What does Avantgarde say about x-over?
I can't remember if you showed us the horn response from your Trio.
Your way of finding the way to hornheaven is something to behold
I live in...
Todd, this is a great journey and I love following you on your way to perfection.
What I really don't understand is why the crossover of your sub is 158hz.
The big horn goes down to around 105hz (when I am not mistaken)
My Unos (from 2004) x-over at 195hz.
Happy to see where you are...
Have been thinking where have you been?
The Tidal company is direct neighbour of the company I work for. Hope to get another appointment to listen to L'Assolutas once.
Hope to read some more from you, Rudolph.
Veel plezier!!
I took a closer look at the horizontal bearing. I didn't understand how to open the bearing and got a description of the bearing from someone on the phone.
I was able to reduce a little bit of play that was noticable. It is really a tricky matter:
^ Here is the horizontal bearing without the...
Hey guys,
as my interest in audio startet in 1987, I read a lot of magazines (I still have them all, meters of Stereo, Audio, Stereoplay, Das Ohr, Hifi Exclusiv (Germany), Audio&Techniek, Homestudio, HVT (Netherlands), Hifi Choice, What Hifi (UK) and some The Absolute Sound (when I could get...
NEWS FROM THE KR AUDIO VA350 PURITY
In november 2022 my VA350 once in some days, went into protection. Waiting 30 seconds, it was working again for lots of hours.
I measured the bias again. It was a liitle low, but my biaspot was almost on its end. I was suspecting the T100 tubes would be done...
Your Beocenter 2300 has an Aux input. If it is not used yet (e.g. by your television) you can use this input.
Buy or build yourself a cinch > 5 pole Din adapter and connect the cinch of the Teac to the Aux input of the 2300. This Din has 7 poles, but you just need a 5 pole.

The iTron amp is a "current amp" of completely new design. (patent pending)
Its not something like the Quad "Current Dumping" amp.
This is a single ended symmetrical design, without feedback. By driving the voicecoil directly with current, you don't have problems with Back...
The brochure is actually only about the new G3 series, going into the details of all the new innovations in the new Trio G3.
It almost sounds like they will bring most of these new parts in the smaller speakers also in the future.
All chassis are new designs. The tweeter is a complete new design...
Another video of the new iTron :
https://youtu.be/AzZZruWaGJQ
I still don't understand what is so special about iTron. Normally Tube amps are voltage amps, and solid state amps are current amps. But something must be different here.
Solid State. As I could understand, the technology of the amp driving the drivers is different as what we are used to, to get better control over the speakers. What they actually do technically is still a mystery
This is some great news! Matthias Ruff told me at the club meeting at Avantgarde factory in November 2019 about these new versions they were working on. (I had to keep this to myself, as it was deeply secret )
I think tube (or very good ss) is the best way to drive AA, but very curious how the...
Here is some help for DIY measurement.
I use REW with the miniDSP UMIK-1 microphone. There will be other ways to measure and I don't know if REW will bring the best results.
The UMIK-1 is cool, as it is USB and comes with a calibration file. As soon as you start REW with UMIK-1 plugged in, it...
Peter,
We talked about your construction some time ago. I really think it is nice looking and without a doubt better sounding.
I'll stay with the original for now, as there are some more important things to do. Improving room acoustics, better interconnects, improving the digital streaming...
After living with my Avantgarde Acoustic Uno (build 2004) from 2015, I wanted to convert my Uno with Sub225ctrl to the more modern XD technology. This is now done and works fine.
The conversion is quite easy.
I used an aluminum plate as a base, which is screwed onto the existing heat sink. I...
In your position, I think I would also live with the Verdier.
But as PeterA points out and Peter and I discussed here at WBF, the Garrard needs something else as the plywood /mpx plinth. You would be amazed.
Yes, this is true. As the motor gets quite warm, ventilation is mandatory.
Normally its enough to leave open beneath the motor, or have a lot of space in a plinth (Vinylista comes to mind)
Interested how you get along.
Hi AnologinAZ,
I just glued it together. The upper constrained layer and lower constrained layer are screwed togehter with a long screw from underneath the low layer. The brass bushings are just placed between and are tightend through the long screws.
I left everything open. Just should make...
FIRST: BE VERY VERY CAREFUL!!!!! High Voltages inside!!
Turn the KR Audio up side down. I took some books, as the T100 tubes are bigger than the transformer cases. Don't let the amp rest on the tube(towers)
Open the coverplate. When you power on the amp, make sure that the speakers are...
