Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

@Steve Williams Steve, I'm no expert either. Perhaps, this is one of those instances of being better off knowing less. :) I do understand the value from isolating the segmented sub-network, filtering, etc. and keeping it to an 'n' of 1.

I have not been keeping (completely) up to date with the thread.. posting the link since all of the info in this link is in one place, including the Q & A. Let me know if this has been posted previously in its entirety (and in one place) and I will delete. From Mono and Stereo: Taiko Switch...

Do Tubes Homogenize the Sound of Our Music?

@bonzo75 Thanks for your impressions. Can you expand on what made the 50W Riviera hybrid amps not as good of a pairing with DeVore? Which DeVores? Recently, Michael Lavorgna favorably reported on the Riviera AFM25 hybrid mono - DeVore O/96 pairing. Twittering Machines Riviera Audio Labs review

Do Tubes Homogenize the Sound of Our Music?

Thank you, Charles. The Cube Audio Nenuphars, driven by Scott Sheaffer's 2A3 build, have exceeded my expectations in so many ways. Most importantly, they have played a significant role in my development and growth and understanding within this hobby and pursuit. I have a 'before' and an 'after'...

Do Tubes Homogenize the Sound of Our Music?

@wil Have you heard the AGs with Ralph's OTLs or another OTL amp? If you are still exploring traditional pairings, the Italian New Audio Frontiers and Riviera would be options I'd be curious about. * it's weird having to specify OTL rather than simply Ralph's amps. : )

Do Tubes Homogenize the Sound of Our Music?

Charles, I'm getting exceptional separation and layering (without going too far so as to be artificial). That, combined with the depth and width of the sound field, is contributing to my enjoyment of complex, dense, massed sections. There are other factors also.

Do Tubes Homogenize the Sound of Our Music?

A speaker doesn't have foresight into who it's owner will be, what music she / he will play, which components etc. precede it, and the room it will grace, etc.. Far more important (for me) is how I'm 'informed' by the designer/builder; their goals and preferences; the material/build/driver...

Do Tubes Homogenize the Sound of Our Music?

@bonzo75 I haven't been keeping up with WBF lately, therefore the question: I'm assuming the above statement is a 'negative,' correct? If so, do you feel the same way about the Trios/basshorns? Thanks.

@godofwealth I can see a major payoff if / when they license it out. The space would benefit from a few more wide adoption competitors / players.

Sound Quality of new roon versions (builds)

Early impressions are positive, in terms of sound quality/performance. Roon 1.8 Build 1105 was favorable to the previous builds. Roon 2.0 (Core Build 1128; Remote Build 1127; both Production) has also moved forward with respect to sound quality. I'm especially curious about what folks using...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Steve, I disagree. This isn't about accepting or expecting that XDMS is/will be superior. There's no rational reason for Emile and Team to develop something that isn't. There is, however, a very strong business case to be made that most (if not all) future purchasers of the Extreme will be...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Christiann, I'm glad you brought this up. Reading the recently posted TAS / Roon / XDMS comparisons from the sidelines, a few thoughts come to mind: - Isn't TAS "static" at this time? If so, how long has it been since development was "fixed?" - Roon, in contrast, has ongoing updates. I...
