I’ve heard that Western Electric is opening a tube manufacturing plant in Georgia. This could be good news for many of our members. Anyone have more info?

Another consideration is the environment in which the speaker designer voices their speakers. Some dipoles, for instance, rely heavily on back wave reflections to create "ambiance" or "atmosphere" in playback. I know that both positioning and rear wave damping greatly affected the sound field...
Ron,
I truly marvel at your ability to bring up topics which touch on aspects of music reproduction that are not often discussed.
Any recording venue has an inherent noise "signature", and it perhaps adds to the individuality of recordings produced there. When we overlay noise from our...
I drive a BMW i3, full electric vehicle. With solar on the house, I commute to work for pennies. The i3 is faster than most cars on the road to 60mph, and is a pleasure to drive. With Honda and other makers moving forward with all-electric cars, it can only be good as the market is pushed to...
You might also experiment with toe-in on the Maggies and listen for changes due to the back wave striking the horns differently. Changes to the sound may also be caused by any object (especially as large as those horns!) behind planars. Learned about this with my old Apogee Full Ranges.

As far as I understand, one can be a “carrier” while uninfected. The ultimate goal is to have nobody (statistically) to give the virus to, implying post-infection or vaccinated immunity.
I received the first dose on 12/19 (true front-line) and get the second dose Thursday. My team manages the sickest COVID patients on ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) when ventilators are unsuccessful.
Besides a sore arm for a few hours, I noticed zero symptoms or side effects...
Admittedly not too knowledgeable regarding the EE side of this discussion, but I do have a large solar installation (63 panels w/micro-inverters). I also hear no degradation of sound. I am in the position to compare (as most solar customers are) the sound when the home is generating its own...
I've always mentioned BIS-232 Kroumata Percussion Ensemble, Track 4 "Hierophonie". Big transient energy on drum strikes at various locations around the huge soundstage. Since the recording is not extremely "dense" with instrumentation, the clarity of each percussion instrument is enhanced.
I...
Our recent remodel of our kitchen allowed us to add the Miele 6800 built-in coffee machine. The results are incredible, and it has multiple programs and presets so each user can customize the strength and portion of their selection which is then saved in memory. Does coffee, espresso, latte...

This ought to be VERY interesting. Look forward to our R2R guys reports on this one!

Roger D touched on the perceptional aspects of attending a live performance. There are other stimuli/factors present at a live performance which are absent at home. Watching the physical movement of the performers, checking out the audience members, enjoying the architectural space, and the...
Did anybody else see Graz’s new announcement that he’s offering custom built Divas that have full modern material upgrades? He’s also offering upgrades to existing Divas to bring them up to that spec.

I had a few talks with Renner when Telarc was producing LPs of their digital recordings. My friend was Telarc’s sales manager before moving to Warner Bros. We laughed about the famous “1812 Overture” causing styli to jump out of the grooves, and he felt that “Alexander Nevsky/Lt Kije” was one...
Larry, I saw Maazel conduct several times before Von Dohnanyi took over, then saw Christoph conduct many programs. Maazel had a more flamboyant, dynamic style & let the orchestra blow the roof off the place. Rite of Spring was incredible.
Von Dohnanyi was a bit more reserved & carefully...
I should add to my previous post that a good friend of mine was the sales manager for Warner Brothers for several years. He also had connections at Telarc, having worked there. He had a pair of season seats (company perk) at Severance Hall (Cleveland Orchestra) and I attended around 100...
