I’ve heard that Western Electric is opening a tube manufacturing plant in Georgia. This could be good news for many of our members. Anyone have more info?

Did anybody else see Graz’s new announcement that he’s offering custom built Divas that have full modern material upgrades? He’s also offering upgrades to existing Divas to bring them up to that spec.

Hi, all. My brother found several ½” 4-track tapes at a store recently. I am attaching a picture of a note sheet that came with the tape he found. He’s wondering about the provenance of this tape and if anybody can tell him about it.
Thanks for your input!

Folks,
This new program provides free training to special needs kids of all types. In the news video above, my own son Ethan is shown doing things many kids can only dream of. World champions come and...
Don't remember seeing a thread where we can all discuss the "best" classical concert(s) we've attended. I'll start:
1. 1969 George Szell (RIP) conducting the Cleveland Orchestra in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony at Severance Hall, Cleveland. This is the one that started it all for me.
2...
I played a lot of golf in my youth, and continued to play when I got married, as my wife loves the game too. After our second son was born, time and logistics got in the way and we went over a decade without playing. Last year we got back to it and have had such great fun! We both got fitted...
I just saw on Facebook where Ray Kimber announced that Bret had passed away. We shared several conversations over the years, and I'm stunned to hear this news.
RIP.

There are many of these videos out there, and I thought it would be interesting to watch how one critic of police use-of-force fares when undergoing training scenarios:

I had an enjoyable exchange with another forum member the other day and it inspired me to share the focus of that talk.
When we either evaluate or discuss audio system performance, we will play certain recordings that we feel will illuminate the strengths and weaknesses of a system. I...
How much variation have you guys experienced in the sound quality of various digital download versions of an album? Is it wise to simply search for the least expensive version of an album (listed bit depth/sampling rate the same)? So, do files of the same album from HDTracks, Pono, etc. all...
The electrician wiring my home theater wants to install a $500 Leviton surge suppressor with the sub panel for the room. Does anyone have any experience with these products and/or have any advice for protection in this price range? I'm concerned about current throughput, as I have a Krell...
I have to purchase new surround speakers for my system (combined audio/theater). The three front speakers (as described in my signature) will remain the same. B&W now offers the CT LCRS7.3, which is roughly equivalent to the current surrounds in my existing 6.1 system. I will be moving to...
For anyone who's seen the "Rabbids Invasion" cartoon from Nickelodeon (or the video games on multiple platforms), here's my kids on Halloween. The costumes are hand-made. My wife Tish is a expert seamstress and I fabricated the heads.

Sonic Studio has released version 3.0 of Amarra Symphony with support for DSD files. There's a substantial discount for owners of Amarra Symphony, too!

Although very basic, it's easy to see how frequency-based vibration patterns must be extremely challenging to speaker designers when speccing enclosures, bracing, and damping! Lower your volume at first when viewing the clip, as the tones are played quite loud!

We're considering installing solar panels (in the desert with over 300 days of sunshine) in the near future. Does anyone have any experience with this, and any comments/thoughts about audio systems operating under these conditions?

Krell's newest Preamp/processor, the Foundation, has been shipping and has received very good reviews. I am in the process of swapping my Krell S-1200/3D for the Foundation and will soon have a report on its performance. The Foundation, while (at $6500) is priced at half of the S-1200's cost...
As a recent convert to Dirac's EQ/Impulse Response correction software, I thought I'd throw out a few thoughts regarding the audiophile world's slow adoption of digital correction strategies. As an old analog-purist guy, I had severe trouble at first with the concept. It took some pushing from...
Well, here's an interesting set of graphs to illustrate the magnitude of improvement possible with this correction software. Dirac is built-in to the Amarra Symphony playback software. Since I already owned Amarra, I paid the small fee and activated the "IRC" function. You may then take...
Blue Coast Records is offering DSD downloads of Isomike's recording of Haydn String Quartets by the Fry Street Quartet for $12! Many of the Isomike recordings are very good (IMO) and this is quite a discount.

Amarra's newest player version has a feature derived from DiracLive, called Impulse Response Correction. Supposedly, it corrects both frequency and time domain issues when used with a calibrated microphone.
Has anyone tried this yet?

In the Magico subwoofer thread, Frantz made this comment that caused me to reflect on my personal audio journey. I believe that all of us have had parallel experiences, although not ending at the same destination, yet sprinkled with similar "revelations".
This, to me, is the essence of what...
