Using your ears work. The people who i have met that are really good with this spent years with DSP and sweeps and have trained themselves to know where they are hearing frequency anomalies. They all eventually rejected DSP. But the learned experience assists as they set up passive system.
I had a sweep done of my setup. My speakers say 32 db. They fell like brick wall at 50. A sweep like a video is only a data point. It told me my bass sucks.
I still wonder why you feel the need to futz with the recording. Sure, I understand and don't require a repeat. I only feel it would be better to focus on the playback gear which you do also. I find it unique you use transformers to adjust gain instead of resistors. You may be making a...
I hear too many audio systems where the bass is tilted up and bloated. Its not natural. Its just big and robust. And people seem to like it. Being a hobby, go for it. Nothing wrong with liking a lot of bass. But that does not mean its correct. It just means you like bass. Even poorly...
I have no idea the musical piece.
I also asked about posting snips to youtube and attaching the clips. I guess I could waste a day trying to figure it out.
Is everyone being honest. I believe the original question most people asked their wives was which do you Like. Not which sounds Natural.
I personally don't know I could say which sounds natural. The 1st is overly bass loaded . Not natural. Its also a horrible piece of music to judge by...
To me it says a video can be used as a tool to perform some assessments. But it stops there. Its not a view into what a system truely sounds like. My wife and I would have to sit in the room to appreciate what were hearing. Does your stereo sound like its in a can? Does the other? It they...
I would agree a standardized recording device and technique would be helpfull. And don't these files have to go to Youtube. How is that handled. That may impact results.
How do people upload these short clips to YouTube?
My wife says collectivly they both sound in a can.
Overall the first is better.
She like the vocals better in the second.
Both are trebley. I think she means simbilance as that is what I hear.
I did have a slight cringe listening to the A Zero. I thought, my god that bass is really accentuated. It made me question the naming of Absolute Zero. Like all components, it has a signiture. Of course, it could very well be the speakers and room that are creating the majority of sound.
#1 is rich and full. Possibly slightly bloated in mid bass.
#2 is lacking some bass and mid forward. #2 is harder to distingish the singer from the cello/bass instrument.
Either are good. But very different.
I hear the Miller have the best contrast with strong dynamics. The Oktan6 are next. Still good separation but getting homogonized and not in a good way. The a avantgarde is too slickeres out, lacking dynamic contrast with soft bass.
I was only joking. If people wanted to hold everyone feet to the fire over whether they have a gain or not, there would be nothing to discuss.
And besides, till analog can beat digital, why buy a TT.:)
I hear you Adrian. What you are saying is mirrored by what people say on the Klipsch forum. They use a SET on the mid and class A or D on the woofers and tweeter. Where you cross the woofers may be a key component. I think they are crossing around 300 hertz or below. Where do you cross...
I don't doubt this. But a passive is also detrimental. They are impacting the circuit in a different place. I wonder if this impacts how that detriment is heard.
Can you describe what the fingerprint on the signal is like compared to what a passive crossover does?
Whatever is in the horn now is very nice till you listen close. I had Scott here tuning my system. We had the horn in. It sounded good. Then we put the Coax in. After the 3rd song or so the deficiencies were heard. The coax is all around better.
A better driver on the horn might pick up...
I am asking out of curiosity. I thought the platter was 300lbs. I didn't know if this types of weight on an air bearing would tolerate being stopped and started, or if you need to get it rotating and let it spin. Its rare I see a table like this. Most are a push of a button and 15 seconds...
Are you saying any of these high mass air bearing tables can easily be stopped and started with your hands. Thats what I do with my table. I turn off the motor and use 2 hands to brake the platter. I only use one to start it, but its light in comparison. And a DD.
So it is iok to touch an...
Haaa. Not to much to mess up.
Yes, the little red jumper plug.
I use to biwire from my amp, but I did not have the exact same cable and heard some distortions. I definitely got more power, but at a cost. If I had a second set of Inakustik Air 2404 I would biwire.
I'm going to try and...
Looking good Legolas.
I added a jumper to my speaker bindings as the factory jumper is so small in gauge. Not sure I heard much.
I am going to try an aircore choke soon. Trying to find the right one.
Here is an example of going active. I would love to hear this system.
The system is based upon Clarisys. I bet its way better sounding now compared to powered by CH monoblocks.
From a thread post.
The amps are the WestminsterLab Rei monoblocks (I've been using a pair of the WL Rei's for...
