Agree, more info/data would be helpful.

I agree with kodomo's assessment. I also go back and forth among the tests. But sometimes, a worse reading in one test will result in a better reading on another test. So need to find the optimum balance overall. Then confirm, or adjust a little bit if needed, by ear.

I do like the new zenith and combined azimuth/VTA tests. Will see how they work together with more testing.

Agreed. Even with V1, I used Adjust+ for setting Azimuth. V2 seems better now, but the proof will be in the testing.

New azimuth L&R/VTA test... (disregard the 60Hz peak, as I was running the AC nearby given all the amps running). Also note the 2 time graphs.

I'd say V2 is worth it. The measurements/algorithms are more stable (especially Azimuth readings) and can be seen over a time graph for some measurements. There are a few tests that are new (channel balance, zenith angle) but many are the same or have been improved (especially azimuth...

Just got V2 but havent really put it to use yet. Hopefully not as steep a learning curve as with V1. If you do the upgrade, the package only comes with the test LPs. You need to use the V1 USB dongle and download the V2 software At first blush, there may be 1 or 2 things I like more with V1...

I, and others, have found that AnalogMagik's azimuth crosstalk readings are generally a bit lower than what one would expect based on a cart's spec. As the cart is optimized, it gets closer though. For example, after critically adjusting a Lyra Delos (spec is > -30dB), I would get -29.23dB...

The necessity for absolute tt speed control

IMHO, the RR will give you the ability to know whether your speed is accurate (or not) so you can adjust as needed. The Condor will give you the ability to have precise speed stability given is AC regeneration. Either or both separately may be all that you need. But by connecting both and...

The necessity for absolute tt speed control

Always had an eagle or condor with the VPI so I never tested the original VPI/Hurst motor for speed stability. I still have the VPI/Hurst motor, and just testeed it. Mind you, it has been sitting for several months...

    Brinkmann Balance/ Kuzma 4P

Pretty darn good. I would imagine you could get it even better with a feedback loop if you can get the Eagle/Condor/RR to work with the Brinkman. Should be able to get it to approach the Technics 1200's wow & flutter of +/- 0.035% peak, although that is measured under IEC 98A weighted, while...

    Analog Magik

Most of my AM readings are fairly steady and repeatable within a few decimal points. For the A/S test, I read at 1, 15, and 30 frames to see how low the distortion is and how close the readings are between the channels. Only issue I have with AM is the azimuth test and fluctuating readings...

I, and others, have experienced the same with the SOTA condor/roadrunner package on our VPIs. And previously with the Phoenx eagle/roadrunner package.

That is something I was expecting too. I did inquire about this but never got a response from Chris Feickert about it.

    Analog Magik

On AM, I get different readings on 33 versus 45 (better) as well. Probably due to the software algorithms. Perhaps it will be addressed in version 2 (when it cones out).

    VPI Tonearm VTA Adjustment

Good info. Thanks. One other thing to note is that the VTA tower as some slop in the dial. So you need to account for this when turning in or turning out. Also, when raising the arm, there is no problem. But when lower the arm, I have to place some weight (finger will do) on the top of the...

Agreed. A+ and AM are great tools. Even helped "see" and remedy the vibration/hum from the 300 rpm motor pods. The 600 rpm motor pod is actually quieter. Go figure.
