Received my vinyl copy yesterday ... great music, beautifully played, gorgeous sound, and order fulfilled (to the UK) in double quick time ... what more could you want? Kudos, Jerome!
I actually find it REALLY annoying that there are two versions because I don't particularly want to buy the same songs twice on vinyl, only to find they are virtually the same. What's the verdict from those that have heard both? Which should I get?
As a 50 year fan of their music, I would suggest the three essential ones (other than The Snow Goose) are ...
Mirage
Moonmadness
Nude (closest to Snow Goose in scope)
Good point! I sometimes wonder about forum threads where two people are disagreeing about the 'sound' of a product ... it's quite possible they are both correct! We customers rarely get the opportunity to hear multiple samples of the same product side by side, but sample variablity seems to be a...
Very happy with mine. For the money, if you need a closed back design for occasional use, these are very listenable and un-fatiguing. No problems with earpads or build quality. Mine are the gold ones and, unlike most closed back 'phones, I think these things look rather good even when just lying...
Agreed. There's a risk of damaging the rca sockets on Shindo gear if you use some of the more extreme plugs. I had a secondhand Monbrison where a couple of the input sockets had their centre contacts trashed through being forced.
I, too, use heavier aluminium arm-pods and have disabled the suspension, as footfall on my wooden floors was causing mis-tracking with some cartridges.
Ortofon optimised the suspension / dampers for the elliptical stylus, so gluing on a different stylus will change things ... maybe worse, maybe better ...
I've had many SPUs, including the recent Anniversary editions, and the Synergy remains my favourite of the modern SPUs, so if it were me...
Another very happy user of Accuphase with modern Tannoys, in my case a C-2150/A-48 combo with Canterbury SE Prestige speakers. I've tried literally dozens of amps over the last decade before finding the Accuphase amps, which is mildly annoying as they were recommended to me years ago by a Tannoy...
I've used the Zero on three different arms recently: Glanz MH-104S, SME 312, and SME 3012R ... the latter giving the best results for me, mounted on a Jelco HS-30 headshell.
So, suggest you try it on a heavy headshell on the 3012.
I think the Gotham starquad would be the one to try.

Having heard the effect of using the QStab puck on the Jay's at Tom's, all I can add is that the improvements aren't trivial and are wholly positive to my ears. Nice upgrade.
I have recently started using the Gotham GAC-4/1 balanced cables from the same vendor, and am extremely impressed.
I paired them with some Belden 9497 speaker cables in my Accuphase/Tannoy system, replacing some cables costing many times more, with nothing but positive results.
Buddy Bolden was rightly celebrated by Duke Ellington on his wonderful 1956 LP 'A Drum is a Woman', which tells the story of Madame Zajj, and is pretty much a musical history of jazz up to that point.
I'm using the 10 inch version, and can report it's an excellent match for low and medium compliance mc cartridges. Stunning with a Sumile, and brings out the best in SPUs.
I perservered with the supplied cable (a black 'generic' one) for quite a while, but it was clearly hobbling the...
